Hunt for the next bird starts now!

I think it’s time to find the next bird! I hope the new year is treating everyone well!

jeff32 02-09-2020 08:01 PM

And what bird are you looking for?

Smoke eater 02-09-2020 08:08 PM

Yea let’s hear the wants and must have list!!!

distantthunder 02-09-2020 08:23 PM

Most likely getting back into a 292 or 311 SR1, 1987-1990. Would love to buy my old one back but it’s a far fetched dream. May even entertain a few 272’s.

I don’t believe I’m ready to ditch the classic lines for a Fastech.

jeff32 02-09-2020 09:02 PM

Fastech are the new classic lines...:(

Couldn't agree more Josh. The styling and quality of their boats were fantastic during this era. Good luck & happy hunting!

This one looks promising. I'd call call Bay Performance, in North East, MD, that shows to have done the latest engine work. Not a fan of POP Yacht myself. Boat seems to have been on the market for at least a year.

SabrToothSqrl 02-12-2020 07:22 AM

My 292 will be for sale when I can afford/justify a 2020 310 BR OB. (5-7 yrs I'm guessing)
Just dropped 2 new base engines in it as the last 350s failed compression on each.

I love the lines of my 292, but it's clearly been built for going fast and has zero storage, which would weigh you down!

We can usually be found near Essex, MD. How far up the choptank can you go? Looks like a fun trip.

Nice archive footage! And it makes me feel a little feel knowing that these things have porpoised since brand new. I thought maybe I was doing something wrong. :D

Isn't that POP Yachts boat for sale at $39k or something?

Hey Josh... Any luck with that boat we talked about? She looks really sweet!

Smoke eater 02-13-2020 03:11 PM

I don’t have any affiliation with this boat or the sellers. Just saw the classic bird and it’s close to me as well. Thought I’d simply pass it along.

Definitely a nice boat.

I hope to check this one out this weekend Tom, sounds promising from the conversation with the owner. He’s on the higher end with price but everything is always negotiable.

interesting, I’d like to see some pictures of it! 4104908172.

I live in Denton, the furtherest you can go up the Choptank before scrubbing bottom. It’s definitely a fun river to boat on and many beach/bar options in the area from Cambridge up to Secretary. Look forward to speaking with you some more!

Aside from the billboard size graphics, I love this boat. I will need to investigate further. Great power plant too. I would have to store offsite of my house to make it work but definitely super clean. Thanks for the lead! It’s getting harder to find these birds, wish I could buy my old one back. Haha!

TomZ 02-19-2020 04:45 PM

That's a big boat! The 357 is a monster!

badmonkey 02-20-2020 05:19 AM

Josh, Good luck with a purchase...I got rid of the Fastech and just have the slow boat for now...maybe later I will get another go-fast boat. Hope to see you soon.

Redneckcustoms13 02-20-2020 12:56 PM

I know it's a newer but I've seen it in person last summer. Really nice boat.

Redneckcustoms13 02-20-2020 01:30 PM

I have been really tempted to go pick this one up. It's only an hour or 2 from the house. If you are interested I could go check it out for you and get you any particulars you need. I've talked to the guy in length a few times. Seems like an honest guy but then again we never know until we put hands on it.

If you have any interest in a really nice 1990 311 send me a PM. It is one of my old boats that has been kept indoors since it was new. Red and white, 365s with some work. Nice eagle trailer. It would be really hard to find a nicer SR1 anywhere. Thank you

Smoke eater 03-09-2020 01:46 PM

Any updates?

Franks292 03-09-2020 02:30 PM

That 357 at Grand Sport Center is mint. Not too far from me either. I bought my 292 fastech from that same dealer. Very nice and helpful staff.

Smoke eater 03-18-2020 02:06 PM

Don’t know if you ever found anything but came across this today and wasn’t sure if it would interest you.

Redneck, what was wrong with the red and white 1990 311 in MI.

Redneckcustoms13 03-19-2020 02:10 PM

The 272 I posted a link to in gulfport?
If so, it was just the normal things with a boat that's been setting a few years. Starters, raw impellers, various small things. I just dont have a place to put it or a need for it having a 242 I dont get much chance to use.

kevlar382 03-19-2020 05:20 PM

The one we talked about on the phone and I sent you some pics. Just wondering, no big deal.

Redneckcustoms13 03-19-2020 05:40 PM

I have no recollection of this. Maybe I was drunk? When did we do this?

I'm sorry, most have been someone else that was looking for a 292 or 311 and he was from MD. Anyway I know of a nice 1990 311 on a nice Eagle trailer that has always been kept indoors and never been in salt water.

Redneck, I have this all messed up. It was distanthunder who is from MD. I thought you were from MD not AL, so I thought it was you. Thought I could help. Guess I should just mind my own business, sorry

Redneckcustoms13 03-23-2020 07:54 PM

No apologies needed. We all got a kick out of it. I've had more than one conversation when drunk that I can't recall.

Sorry Everyone! I didn't get any notifications of the action on this thread! There is a huge amount of options but I ended up picking up a 1990 357SR1.

https://www.offshoreonly.com/forums/...ouncement.html

Link above, wasn't shooting for something that big but it all checked out. I have a few friends still looking for Formula's so I will pass them along accordingly. I spoke with icnfxit yesterday and that 311SR1 is something fierce. Thanks to everyone for the input!
