Anyone know this bird!?!?!?!

So I've been back and forth on this boat for quite some time. Talked to the broker a few times and I'm still not sure. I was curious has anyone seen this boat in person or know this boat? Would save me a trip if its not worth it. If I were to pursue it farther I would look into going the whole survey route. Before any of that though I was curious if anyone had some insight on it. Thanks everyone

Not trying to stir the pot but I wouldnt buy a go-fast that sits in the water all the time like that... no pics of drives or bottom of the hull. Thats a BIG red flag for me.

That was my first thought as well.

I have seen that boat sitting in the water at that marina. The broker is good my father in law used them to sell two boats. The boat is probably on blocks at that marina and I bet the broker will go take more pics if you ask.

So at this time its in the brokers court. I reached out to him and waiting for his response. Hopefully it'll be possible to do most everything virtual and when I'm at the final stages I could go there for the final steps of purchase if it gets to that point.

So has anyone bought a boat without a trailer before and it not be on the same body of water that your on currently? Just trying to plan ahead. and think about things before I get ahead of myself

badmonkey 01-20-2021 06:16 PM

Smoke, if this is the boat you want, then make some calls to your local trailer dealers or any of the big dog trailer manufacturers and figure a plan for getting yourself a nice trailer. If you do not need a trailer then just hire a reputable transport company to bring your boat home. The trailer is the easy part just due your diligence finding the right trailer without over paying for it. The trailer is just a means to move the boat safely.

I keep my boat in dry rack storage so the trailer isint a must for me. Until we wanna go on a trip and wanna travel and take it somewhere. So today I don’t need a trailer but at some point it’s in my future. I never looked at bots before with out a trailer but I was also pulling back and forth to the lake. Never considered one without a trailer before. I know I would want one but do I get a custom built brand new one that will just sit or do I try to find something used and let it sit. I know it’s my call to make. Just gotta do the research.

You'll figure it out. New can be expensive but then the trailer is made for your boat. Certainly can find a used one but you will have to spend money on it to make it right....

Manning will hook you up with a nice trailer. 616 318 4217 M 616 784 2228 W. There not that far from where the boat is.

DO NOT order a trailer from Manning. I ordered one in August for our 382, supposed to be a 6-8 week build time, it has now been 5 months! Terrible communication. Supposedly still waiting on axles. Every other manufacturer has been able to keep to a 6-10 week schedule. If I didnt have to put down such a large deposit I would have canceled my order already.

I love my Owens and Sons. It’s now twenty years old and they still support me with parts and advice. Top-notch, family run business.

Not taking away from Manning. Great trailers, but over here with the salt, the aluminum has been great. Also, if you’re questioning the towing capabilities of your truck, the aluminum is a coupon two/three thousand pounds lighter.

Our Manning is going to be a welded aluminum trailer. They make steel and aluminum.

I called manning 3 times last year and emailed them twice about building a trailer for my 292 Fastech. NEVER HEARD BACK FROM THEM! That pretty much made the decision for me to save my money and keep my current trailer.

I highly recommend you find something far safer and better than the manning junk. My manning trailer is pure junk, damaged the boat and doesn't fit the hull properly.

Bought my 419 out of Michigan. That same broker had the listing for a while but was terrible to deal with. I contacted the owner of the boat and eventually bought from him.

Update: Guess the broker doesn’t wanna make the commission. I’ve left messages and emails and have heard nothing back. Shame that it’s like this but maybe that’s just a sign to move on. Anyone know of any others for sale. Looking for blue motors and preferably ac/heat and a generator

Yeah, brokers are opposite of used car salesmen, they dont hound you, they never call you back, they dont try to be your best buddy. and brokers usually know boats. I was looking at a Bertram and the broker (some young kid who was fresh out of college and been a sales guy for 3 years) never returned my calls, replied to only one email and cant find any service records from the owner. Another broker I was dealing with about a Viking, I had called 6 times and on the final chance i called the office and he picked up the phone. It seems like brokers are lazy,, but im sure they are busy with other people too.
As far as the trailer goes, my buddy bought a formula 330 ss from Florida. He had it transported up here on a trailer. When the boat arrived we have the transport guy bring the boat to a local launch ramp and we transferred the boat to my trailer, so we could inspect everything with a fine tooth comb and we added some electronics to it while it was at my house.
