I replaced th box under the lounge with a double woofer enclosure that I built out of composite and hell coated https://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.off...41981022c.jpeg There is a bunch more room on deck because the windshield island dash are further forward than the LS https://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.off...dac4b7232.jpeg You can put a large cooler behind the helm seat and stil have leg room . My friends boat is a twin of yours. |

This a really bad pic but it’s the only one I took before gell coat. https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.off...661dfc148.jpeg https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.off...1a48577c1.jpeg https://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.off...00e911181.jpeg The box is lagged to the deck through the feet and th seat glides screw to the rails on the top of the box. All of the pictures show the box upside down of course. |
I am a first time boat owner and i got a 242 LS last year with a Chevy 350 with a Weiand blower. It runs 57-58 mph on a good day, its a little sluggish to get up on plane but it cruises just fine in 35-40 mph. But then again I dont have anything else to compare with. Volvo Penta 290 duo-prop.

Welcome and congratulations on your first boat. I wish my first boat had been a 242 LS. I had a sunfish sail boat and the slalom skiers would spray my sail and tip me over. P.S. Love your bikini team!

Congrats! Got any pictures? Just an update for anyone following along. Heading up to buffalo next weekend to take a look at the 88 242LS with the 383. The SS with the 520 got sold before I could even talk to the guy really. I may swing by on the way up to buffalo and take a look at a 242 SR1 that's in nice shape as well if I can coordinate it. |

Yes, but i dont think its possible to post pictures or links without having 10 posts. It got a full wrap so it is a bit different. You can check it out on my instagram rickard.allemo or wait till i have a few more posts.
Will do! How much boost are you running and what kinda Dyno numbers were you seeing with the blower? Sounds like a fun littler setup. The SR1 with a set of blower 350's or 383's sounds like a pretty slick idea too 😂. |

I got a hold of the first engine who had forged crank, rods and a cam, I put new forged low compression pistons in it, unfortunatly i couldnt use the Vortec heads and he dint have the smaller pulley around so it isn´t as fast as it used to be. I think i could lean it out some more, get a smaller pulley and give it some more timing to get the speed up but im scared to death to blow up another engine so im happy with it as it is. But as many had said if i could choose i would want a big block as i feel the little SBC are working hard in this heavy boat. |
