Default Removing formula 311 windshield

Hi. Wanting to pull windshield to reseal. For those that have done it is it as easy as removing all the stainless screws at the bottom of the windshield? Hoping I can take it out in pieces and wondering if this is a single day project to remove reseal and reinstall. Any advice is appreciated. Thanks in advance

Hello. I have a 311 and pulled my windshield and powder coated in black and sealed the holes.

So if you undo all screws in the base that attach to the deck, with the help from someone, you will be able to slide the ENTIRE windshield and side glass as ONE COMPLETE unit. You may need to place 2x4 up on deck and carry it up and seal things.

The way the glass pieces work….. they are all glued to the frames. You can un do some screws on top side of aluminum frame, but you will find the glass is glued. If you do decide to pull it apart, for reference, when you put it back together, you will bolt the lower frame to deck and attach the upper rail with the side and center support pieces and have the full frame in place first. Then you place adhesive, 3m window weld on the edges of the frame and side your glasses pieces into place.

when you pull the windshield, you will see the black dash is seperate from deck and in my case I filled the entire front of that with caulk to seal any water from rolling up and under it. I sealed all my screw holes and have had no water under the step since then.

email me and I’ll give my number if you want to talk.

it may be a full weekend project.

hope that helps,
Chris

Thanks Chris. Great info. Sounds like it would be easier to do it in 1 piece with a friend to reseal. Did you use a new gasket or just some caulking when you did yours?

I only caulked the holes good, put a thin bead of caulk on center line. After framing back on I put the caulk up against edge of frame and deck too, inside and out.
