Default shifter removal

Im in the process of upgrading my dash,87 formula 311,Ive come to the plate under the shifters. I would like to pull the shifters out and have them powder coated. Is there anything I should know before unhooking the throttle and trany cables? Any special way of unhooking them?.................... Thanks

not really anything special about it, it is fairly straite forward. Little bit of a pain depaneding on what controls you have but it is not to hard. Good luck.
