Finalized dates for Lake of the Ozarks Formula Rendezvous
Hey Folks,
Jeez it's only been about six weeks since I started this! I spoke with Barb at Glencove Marine at LOTO monday. There was some confusion about Formula's part in these Rendezvous this summer. Confusion was on my part apparently. Glencove WILL be sponsoring a Formula Rendezvous this summer on the weekend of July 25 through 27. This is to avoid conflicting with Sturgis which starts the following weekend. (I for one would not take my boat to Sturgis, but others may find it fun!
) Everyone is welcome from any area. Originally this was slated (in a Formula Action 2 years ago - fall/winter 2001) to be "the worlds largest Formula Rendezvous ever". Not sure what happened but Glencove is handling this thing on their own it seems. That's where we come in. An event like this is a lot of work! Period! I see no reason that some of us can't kick in a little to help this dealer out in putting this thing on. If you have an event you would like done at this Rendezvous, let me or Barb Libby at Glencove Marine know. One idea might be a poker run! Maybe a couple guys can get a poker run together for that weekend and offer to manage the whole thing for everyone. Of course we need to make sure it doesn't interfere with the events that Barb already has in store for us. Therefore we MUST coordinate with her. But, any work we take off their shouders will be greatly appreciated by them I'm certain. Barb is putting an event brochure together and would be happy to send it to any interested parties. Send your contact info (email and street address) to her at [email protected] . For accomodations contact the chamber of commerce at www.funlake.com . The dealer is a mile marker 3 approximately. Party Cove is at about mile 19. Coordinate your accomodations accordingly!
Some things that Barb told me they have done in the past is a lake cruise, and they are planning to have the boats all raft up so a helicopter can do an aerial photo of all of us. Here's cool! How about the same guys that arrange a poker run have the helicopter follow the poker run boats for a few hours and take pics and video's of us. When was the last time you had an opportunity to have aerial video footage or a great still action photo of your boat in a race or poker run atmosphere? That's usually reserved for the real racer's, guys. We always get stuck with our buddies trying to get footage of us from water level in a bouncing boat. I'm sure it will cost us, but who gives a crap as long as we are having fun!
So far I have about 5 boats confirmed to be going down. Hey, how about you Michigan guys. Come out of the fog for a couple days to party. I know there is a few of those Formula type boats over in Minnesota and Wisconsin! Cuda! Dude you must bring that F302 Kamma over. I would get a kick out of seeing a ton of Kamma boats show up. Roostertails 100 feet long - ten boats wide - through horseshoe bend. YEEHAA! No excuses for not showing up from any body in Illinois, Missouri, Oklahoma,Kansas, Texas, Arkansas, Tennessee, Kentucky, or Indiana.
