Had a bunch of vinyl work done on the sun pad for my '89 311. Also getting new mirrors made for the underside. There is no apparent drainage system for any water that gets through the cushions to the fiberglass hatch surface. Water drains through the screw holes for the cushions and onto the mirrors.

Around the outside of the hatch is a rounded trough. The trough extends down the middle of the hatch also. Is this through designed to carry drainage away? If so, mine does not have any drain holes in it. Should I drill some small holes in it to let water away. It is evident from staining that water has settled in the trough.

Any of you guys ever deal with this before?

I am not sure if mine is the same as yours but I also drilled holes in my hatch to get the water out.

Do the drain holes work for you? Do you still get water on top of the mirrors? Did you plumb up some drain lines from the holes to the bildge or just let it run?

My 89 272 had holes drilled into the back end of the troughs and a cap with holes in it in the holes. Looked like a drain or a shower head kind of thing. Actually my 95 336 has them too, but I think they may be clogged because I don't see any water coming out of them, but I know I've got moisture in the sunpad. I can see it drain after a rain if I put up the engine hatch, but not thru the drain holes...

I just drilled the holes at in my case the very sides. In your case the very back of them.

Mine does the same thing. You should see the water run out after a washing.
What I'll do is, after washing I'll open it up and then I take my special pole and prop it open a far as I can (it's actually close to full vertical) and let it dry in the sun.
