Thumbs down "blown" Blower

My new 382 with just 45+ hours on it had the starboard 575 blower seize up, blow up, whatever! Has anybody had this happen or heard of this with the 575's.

Thanx, W

Anything can happen.........you've got a good warranty though. I had a blown head gasket on an HP500EFI with about the same hours as yours.

Defective bearing in the blower.
Blower castings didn't get all of the machining chips cleaned out before assembly.
Somebody forgot to put lube in the blower case.
Burr on a rotor shaft cut the lube seal and the lube got sucked into the motor.
Fastener or piece of hardware fell from the carb and jammed the rotors.

A host of possible causes. All covered by Merc warranty.

Well found out today don't have to worry about the blower itself. Apparently the engine decided to munch on some of the blower parts and its to the scrap heap now. Amazingly I'm told there are no 575s available in stock and one has to be "built" by Merc. Don't know when we'll be back up and running but since nearly 2/3 of summer is over in Northern Michigan - this hurts - - ouch! Concerned over the thought that the port engine was built in the same batch and something similar may happen. chit man, chit man!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
