Smile 292 with b1 29's to 30's

Just did a prop test on my 292 stock 6.2's from 28 lab b1's to 30's b1's from 5300 to 5100 on the 30's and actually got 3mph in flat glass sunset more test tomorrow hope for 2 to 3's just curious but seems the 29 hydros I bought tonite should put me in the zone.
Anybody out there with this power or knowledge please give your in put. Thanks to all who can help.

Cool

My 292 came in with labbed 28's, but they were very under proped, so we went to a set of labbed 30's. The 30's were great! I got at least a 10mph increase in crusing speeds: Before at 3k rpm only 30mph, with the 30's 3k rpm is now 40-45mph. At 4k was 40mph, now 50-55 depending on the water. WOT seemed to stay about 72 or so GPS. I'm very pleased with the 30's.
We boat in the upper Chesapeake. Oh, by the way Formula sprung for the new props. What other company would do that?

I am looking at a new 292, it's got 6.2's & Lab 28's on it.

LW, impressive speed numbers changing to the 30's, how did that change the boat plane time coming out of the hole?

I heard that the 292 is a bit hesitant out of the hole but then again that test boat had 350 mags.

I am sponging as much info as I can as this new boat I am interested in has never been in the water yet, so I have never driven a 292.
I am going off what youse guys say, I can respect this new 292 high & dry cause' that means I get a fresh boat unabused.

Everything I have heard so far points that this will be a thrilling boat for my price range.

LW MY 2002 292 CAME THROUGH WITH STOCK 28'S, WAS GETTING POOR PERFORMANCE OUT OF THE HOLE,I WAS RECOMENDED TO DROP DOWN TO 26'S . HOLE SHOT IMPROVED MID RANGE IMPROVED LOST A COUPLE OF THE TOP END. I'M STILL NOT SATISFIED , NOT SURE WHAT TO DO NEXT... P.S. I STILL LOVE THE BOAT!!!

Comming on plane with the 28's was pretty slow, they used to blow out. The 30's don't blow out, so it seems to be much better, but it is slow to plane out. I boat down on the Cheasapeke Bay, which is sea level, so maybe that has a lot to do with me being able to run a 30p. I still think that my crusing speeds to rpm's could be better though. I think that my slippage is too high, about 25-28%.

I am back to lab 28s as for planning I think the 15 to20 sec for 7000 pounds is good. ever sit next to a 32 or 35 fountain its long on plane had come on plane in my recently sold 18 donzi classic next to 32 and it took him a good mile and a half to ketch me but he did and kept going. As for the 26" you have to be turning way to high rpm? I am putting a set of 29 hydros on before the weekend and if all goes well I will order a lab set. Appears no difusser ring so should be interesting.

Donzilla, What kind of performance are you getting from the 28's. I've had the 26's on all summer, in all conditions, humidity and temps, have'nt hit the rev-limiter yet, max rpm's 51/52
thanks for your response

Bustnout,
With lab B1 28,s back on the boat wot will be 5300 at
63.5 knots Garmin 182 (still can't figure out how to change that thing to mph) or 73.5 mph g/handheld it does howerver hit the limiter occasionally at wot. I tried some stock hydro QIV 29's with no luck just blow out and will not plane. I am going to ring Hydro monday and ask for some advice.

I also have a 292 ( 2002 ) with 6.2's. Hole shot is very slow to plane. I feel a prop slip about 2 seconds before the nose comes down?? I'm running the 28's that came on the boat and get around 70.3 MPH top end @ 5,000 RPM on GPS. I'm very interested to see what happens with your test Donzilla! Any other suggestions?
THANKS!
