A 311SR1 runs the same speed as a 292SR1.
A 311 rides like a much longer boat, but lifts its nose nicely at speed.

I own a 311 with 502's, and when a friend bought a 292 with the same power, I figured he'd have no trouble with me. Wrong. Didn't matter who was driving either boat, they simply ran the same speed. Both box stock.

The 311 has plenty of room to get in the engine compartment and work on things. You can even reach completely under the engines and pick up parts with your toes...

292 has pulleys crammed into the back seat.

#1) engine access
#2) ride and handling (you gotta drive both boats in the same water to believe the difference)

I like a 292, but knowing what I know, I would never buy one over a 311 unless there was a MAJOR price difference (and there usually is not).

Rylander:

I haven't been around my computer in a while. My 311 is an 86' Kaama boat. 40 hrs on rebuilt 454's originally
375 hp now 400hp. Motors were both done because of a failed oil cooler on port motor. 280 hrs on hull. It has new cockpit cover(last year), Full bimini/camper canvas,
upolstrey is in good shape, gell is also in good condition.
Original black. Cabin has very little use mostly been a day boat. Also boat is kept on an Eagle triple axel trailer. Overall nice boat, high 8's on a scale to 10.
But one must see to judge. Some people go by a different scale. email if interested. [email protected]

Let me know if you are getting to northern Mi. Always interested in meeting fellow Tbird owners.

Perfectmix, do you have any pictures of the 311/Kaama's?

Perfectmix 08-22-2003 12:06 PM

Cuda

I have pictures, I will post them this weekend.
I was wondering what formula you had. If it is a 40 footer? Looking to compare my 357, tring to figure out what rpm other kaama boats cruised at and what kind of top end you were getting. Appreciate any feedback.

It's a 302. The previous owner told me 78.6 on the gps, and I believe him. I haven't pushed it there yet, but I did hit 70 the last time out with throttle to spare. I think he said it runs around 5250 or so, not sure on that.

I don't think you got my sarcasm I was aiming for. Let me reword it:

My dream "affordable" boat right now is a cherry original 311 w/420's, Kaama's, and factory original yellow paint.

I'm with you guys, yellow by far is my favorite color for a boat. I also think Formula did a good job of designing graphics that still looks good today.
