Default The complete 292 thread

I don't think this has been done yet and I think it would be interesting to anyone doing research, I'm starting a thread for each model boat. I'm hoping they will be the complete "guide" to each model. What I'd like to see in it is hard facts about this model only,(length, beam, available power, years produced, numbers produced, colors, pictures, weights, pricing for different years.)

I'd like to keep out the shopping questions. But feel free to put in comments about likes and dislikes, common problems, and results with different power packages. As time permits, I'll troll through old posts and add info collected through the years. If I didn't start a thread for a model you want to see, start one up with the right subject name.

Thanks in advance,
Dave

I own a 2001 292 Formula w/ 377 Scorpions. Great boat EXCEPT, you cannot get it out of the water. I can run with the best AFTER planing. But with 1/2 load of fuel and 4 adults I'm 30+ seconds to plane.

The 292 was a new boat for 2001, WITH a swim platform, I think they had an older 1986-1991 292 that was NOT integrated, however that would have been a real 29' boat. The new one is a 27 + 2.

I think you're wrong there! There is a great differance between the 27 and 292, not just an added swim platform.

I think he knows that. WHat he is talking about is the overall length changed from 1991 to 1992. The useable room shrank by about 2 feet even though they are both 292's

After reading about Travass911's issues, I'd like to see how a 292 would run with a single 500 (like the F1 boats) or even a single 600.

Travass911 - you sound like a candidate for an extensive round of prop testing.

Do you think these newer 1992 and up 292's have to much weight in the back?

I would have to agree with C_Spray that a single may be a better choice. As far as I know they never offered that though.

Has anyone experimented with larger tabs?

Also, what year did they add the steps or vents in the 292?
