I wonder why the different size fuel tanks. Mine's an 86 and holds 102 gallons.

who knows...after i purchased my boat i had to call formula for some different things and thats what they told me...

Purchased 90 242 LS 2 months ago, 2nd boat for me, boat is in excellent shape (400hrs) 454 mag. teal/ pink graphics on white hull, was told by orig. owner 100 gal. fuel. have seen 60 on speedo @ 4800 not gps. was told weighs 4400. just love it.

Purchased an 88 242 LS this weekend. Good shape, 502 (50 hours), white with blue graphics. Ran 62.8 on GPS in the heat with the wrong prop. Was turning 5300 with a 23P mirage. Boat rides so nice!

Welcome to the board and congrats on the new "Bird". As you eluded to, something is not dialed in quite right. Your 242 should be capable of high 60s with that 502. I know of several 242s with 454Mags that do an honest 63-64 mph.

Keep tweekin' her, she'll fly a little faster.:D

First upgrades will be prop, exhaust manifolds, and I gotta get a set of bolster seats.
I'll keep everyone posted on the progress.

Good luck on that. The lack of bolsters is the ONLY thing I didn't like about my 242.
