Default The complete 242 thread

I don't think this has been done yet and I think it would be interesting to anyone doing research, I'm starting a thread for each model boat. I'm hoping they will be the complete "guide" to each model. What I'd like to see in it is hard facts about this model only,(length, beam, available power, years produced, numbers produced, colors, pictures, weights, pricing for different years.)

I'd like to keep out the shopping questions. But feel free to put in comments about likes and dislikes, common problems, and results with different power packages. As time permits, I'll troll through old posts and add info collected through the years. If I didn't start a thread for a model you want to see, start one up with the right subject name.

Thanks in advance,
Dave

From Storm32:

You could get the twins in '87 in the 242-SR1 and '88 was the last year for the option. both '87 and '88 were the new style rounded windshield. also in '87 the silent thunder swim platform was standard with twins as well. One sweet running package.

I found a tie bar to be absolutely essential to the handling of the boat. Top speed with the twin 350's was 64 mph.

I have the original invoice for the 85 242. List price was $49,900, it sold for $43,465.40.
