To splice speedo line, use heatshrink over the tubing instead of a clamp or ziptie. Just be sure the length of heatshrink is only as long as your splice or barb fitting. If the heatshrink extends past the fitting, it will squeeze the tubing closed.
Glue a 3/32 drill bit into a small piece of wood dowel and keep it in your boat. You can drill out the trash and you won't lose it if you drop it (it will float). In a twin, you can swap to the other pickup when one gets clogged. |
Donzilla,
The 182 Garmin looks great on your 292. Describe what you had to do with the dash. It looks like you relocated the small center gauge and removed the original speedo. Did you cut out a new square hole, mount directly over the original round holes or add a Garmin mounting bracket? mcollinstn, great idea with the drill bit and wooden dowel. What do you mean by swapping in a twin if one gets clogged? Where do you swap? This is a very helpful thread... |

It is a new dash plate I had made up and then sent to powder coat. I dropped the volt meter to the panel next to the wheel. Still no room for mechanical indicators. My 02 with just 100 hrs will be for sale soon. This has been a great/dependable boat but it is time for bigger toy Thanks Jim |
