What was done to the 454's to get the 530hp? How many hours and how long ago? Type exhaust? Silent choice? Where in Ohio is Mentor?

ontheh20,
The engines are a proven combination of merlin oval port heads, hydraulic roller cams, RPM Air gap intakes, Holley carbs, gill offshore wet exhaust, forged 9.25:1 pistons with 150 hrs on them. The boat has mufflers that are switchable. Mentor is along the shore of lake Erie approximately 20 miles east of Cleveland.

Formula Outlaw,
I couldn't agree more, the 311 is a very big 31 ft boat in todays standards, the 312 is more like the size of the old 272. I'm currently in the process of buying a 382 FasTech and have taken several measurements and the running surface is at the most 5 ft longer than the 311.

Is that a wooden swim platform I see on your '88? I thought Formula had switched to fiberglass before '88.

bford1,
The swim platform is teak, as far as I know it was installed at the factory.
