I probably shouldn't be posting pics of a non-Formula, but oh well... I own a Formula now!
1994 Talon 22' tunnel hull (1250 lbs less engines). Twin 245 HP Merc HP 2.5L. 110 HP Nitrox nitrous oxide system (per engine) using 100% alchohol as the enrichment fuel. Hull mounted water pick-ups and ran 28" clevers full surfacing. Also ran 30" occassionally.
Scary quick. 40-80 mph in less than 3 seconds. No kidding. Radared at 110 mph with the small props. I was into acceleration more than top speed. Had the boat from 1993-2000. Never lost a race, grudge match, whatever you want to call it, and I raced a lot. Didn't race it professionally.
Yes, it was a sickness.

Do you miss it or is out of your blood now?

Ouch! Bite your tounge on that cruiser chit. I hear that once you begin to act like an old fart you risk being morphed into one.
Which is why I refuse to go there, and continue to act as though I celebrated my 21st birthday yesterday. Well maybe 31st. Or 41st.
Oh Fock It!!! Old Farts Rule!!!

The only thing I'll miss is the ride. Not too many cruisers cut the water like a go-faster (I know, I know, a go-slower in my case). Cruisers are wide and flat so the ride won't be all that good I'm sure. But liveability will be good.
Plus, I'm tired of cleaning. I just want a cruiser, black hull paint, and a dock. I'll clean the topsides and not worry about whats going on under water 'till end of season. Looking for a more casual boating experience.
If I want to go fast, I'll hop on my sled!!!

Hey, if there was a deal that appealed to me, I'd have a cruiser right now. See, we boat a little differently than you River Guys. We typically go out Friday and stay there all weekend. No resteraunt, no chitter, no shower, no blender machines. We boat, we don't sleep till noon then mop our decks till 2:00, then go for a twenty minute blast a 4:00.
I'll admit that the chitter is one thing I am fond of. The rest of it means little to me, I'm just as happy with a burger on the dock versus the high brow dining experience. I'd sooner put the money into gas. I'm up in the AM, long before noon, make my little coffee run then mop my deck. I enjoy the deck mopping experience!
20 minute ride? Me? Hardly! I put 25 hrs on the Biotch off the trailer down on this end of the river this spring before I ever moved it to the Bay. More than that once it got there. I just enjoy driving the Biotch, even if it's just in circles around all these islands up here.
Someday I'll likely end up in a cruiser, I'm just hoping I can get into a Fountain 38 EC. That for me would be a perfect mix. Ride quality, reasonable performance, a little exhaust noise, and a real chitter! Maybe even a flat screen TV!
And I'll still probably go out and aimlessly drive around in circles on a nice day.
Odd how these threads stray off course, must not have a GPS!

Thanks guys.
In some ways I miss it. I have always been into high performance and love the adrenaline rush. I drag raced a '67 Camaro through high school and college (ran low 10's). My wife didn't mind (and actually enjoyed) the Talon until she became a 'Mom', at which time we both agreed it had to go.
When it is rough out I really enjoy the drive in my 292 and don't miss the Talon at all. It is just on those days when it is really calm that I miss the 75-80 mph 'cruise' in the old Talon.
