'79 Formula 255 Liberator
Finding a decent 20 year old Formula in South Florida is tough...but finding a decent 31 year old Formula in South Florida is un heard of!!!
I lucked up on this fresh water transplant from the UP of Michigan and plan to bring it back to "restofied"...maintain the original character of the boat but with modern upgrades. Mine is a 1979 255 Liberator built in the Decater, Indiana factory and has spent all but the last 3 of it's 31 years in Traverse City, Michigan. Boat runs a solid 60 MPH with twin 260 Mercs on No.1 drives. I plan to update seating and instrumentation and eventually re-power with strong 383's and Bravo XRs. I am looking for ideas and welcome thoughts and suggestions. http://i705.photobucket.com/albums/w...r/DSC04967.jpg http://i705.photobucket.com/albums/w...r/DSC04966.jpg http://i705.photobucket.com/albums/w...r/DSC04972.jpg http://i705.photobucket.com/albums/w...formula002.jpg http://i705.photobucket.com/albums/w...r/DSC04977.jpg http://i705.photobucket.com/albums/w...r/DSC04980.jpg  |
I dig the boat, looks in pretty good shape, but I wouldn't drastically modify the interior, definitely the steering wheel and throttles, but other than that I'd redo the upholstery and carpet and leave the rest alone.
Maybe all white interior, it's a lot cooler when the suns burning ya up. Oh, take to light off the bow. Gonna look good when your done, curious to see it when it's complete, good luck. |
Mine is one of the "slow " ones. I have an '88 F26 PC. Pics won't work from my phone. Check my photobucket under the same username and it is in the projects folder.
Single 7.4 w/ bravo 1 and a 4 blade Solas(?) So far everything checks great |

Nice boat. You definetly need to remove the bow light.
