Lucky owner:Janne on the West Coast of Sweden. This is Dave from upstate New York!!! A few years back I checked out a 1988 242 SR1 from Ithaca, New York. Pretty nice rig!! Anyway, the guy needed a new Silent Thunder platform. He calls Formula,,,, They say they have not produced a 242 with twins since '87!!!! A little more research and Formula discovers one 1988 242 SR1 (242 with 350s was produced in 1988, they discontined the model in 1987). Don't know if this is accurate or not, I did not personally contact Formula, passed on the deal. The point here is,,,, you may in fact have a very rare bird!!!!! Do not sell it until you contact Formula with your serial number and find out it's pedigree. These boats WILL become collectible someday. How long from now is anyone's guess,,,, but,,,, only so many were built. Anyway, welcome to the board. Hows the weather in Sweden? About like like upstate New York I expect,,,,,Friggin cold!!!!!!!!!  Give us some more details of the boat's lineage and maybe we can pin-point it's history and worth. Where did you get the boat?? History?? |
I'll try to come up with a picture of "Synergy" my first Formula: 85' 242 LS with twin small blocks.

My 242 with twins ran about 65.
|
Faster after I got divorced from my first wife. Seriously, it ran 69/70 on GPS. Was running 24 inch "cleaver" props. Motors had been tweaked a little, making about 315 maybe 320 horsepower each. Was particularly good in rough water for a 24 ft. boat.

Where did you get the boat?? History?? I can discern the French reg. nr. in the hull. When I contact Formula they told me that the boat was dilivered to a Florida boat dealer. I should be thankful to you if you can get more information. The hull nr. is TNRD8285D588. About the weather in Sweden? itīs sunny and the temperature is +2-5 degrees Celcius. Perhaps snow untill Christmas. My best regards. Janne. |

Janne,
Talked to Formula today. 1988 was the last year of production for the 242 SR1 (242 w/twin 350s). They made a total of four (4) that last year. So, you have one of four of the last 242 SR1s this planet will ever see!! Pretty unique and rare bird you have there. Actually, as I think about it,,,,,,, I don't recall another boat manufacturer stuffing a couple of 350s into a 24 foot boat. Hmmmmm, maybe I'll post that and see what anyone knows about that. Anyway, thats that:) Dave |
I need this to hit another page, because phantoms pics didnt load right :(

OK, I'll post-whore a bit to get it to roll over:D
Just rolling to the next page will make Chaos' pictures load up???? Why is that??? |
