i'm running stock 23 pitch mirage's.....maybe mid 60's at 5200 rpm, i haven't gps'd it yet. what do you guys think? A friend has a set of 25p mirage's i'm gonna try this weekend. with the 23's it planes out as quick as a bass boat!

handfulz28 09-17-2007 02:00 PM

Oh man...420s...
With my worn out 454MAGs (365hp) and 23p Mirages I've seen 63mph (GPS) @ 4900-5000RPM. And that was early on before I knew what I was doing and in windy conditions. You gotta post what you get (on GPS) with those 25s. I've been wondering how a Mirage Plus would work on our boats...

TylerBurich 09-17-2007 02:38 PM

z28 are you running bravo's or trs cuz my boat is one heavy biatch with the velvet drives. i'm gonna try a friend's 25' mirage's this weekend for sure...another friend has a set of 25p mirage plus's that have been labbed that i'm also itchin to try out. do you run a little bit of tabs when going for top end? i have also shaved some weight in the ass end with the addition of imco exhaust and modifying my silent thunder so it's not carrying around 40 gal of water all the time!:ernaehrung004:

TylerBurich 09-17-2007 02:40 PM

Oh btw, did i mention she just turned over 270 hrs! That's also an 04 model haul-rite tri-axle

handfulz28 09-17-2007 05:27 PM

Duh...I wasn't even paying attention to the TRS drives...too busy day-dreaming about the 420s :D So yeah, my '91 has Bravos.
No tab whatsoever in the smooth stuff when looking for top end. So far most of my boating has been in 3 different conditions: (1)glass smooth, (2) over 3ft chop requiring at least level tabs to keep the boat in the water and (3) nasty enough to not want to even get on plane. I've never been able to run in that theoretical 1-2ft chop that lets the boat free up and run really fast.

Nice Engines.

Killer TA nice looking engines, are those 454's or 502's? What kind of H.P. do you have? and what do think about what kind of speed you gone get out of the 357 now? Propwash.

Killer_TA 09-17-2007 10:48 PM

Thanks they are 454s and were org. 440 cyclones. Im not sure of the hp now. I spun a bearing in the starboard engine last year only got a few runs before it let go. The place the old owners had the engine built hacked it together. I just got it back on the water and have not pushed it to hard yet. So I dont know my top speed yet that will have to wait till next year.
