Did your dash voltmeter show 18.6 volts for that altenator, or did you have to hook up a voltmeter to the altenator's terminals to see it? I would have thought the dash gauge would have shown the high voltage.

I have only one voltmeter on the dash. It never read more than 14.4 volts. I'm not sure yet if it reads off only one alternator output or averages the two, but there was never any indication that one was overcharging. I read voltage outputs directly off the starting battery posts with a hand-held multimeter with each engine running individually.

There is a seperate voltmeter in the cabin on the AC/DC panel that monitors the house battery, but it obviously can't be observed while underway.

RedDog382,
It sounds like your on to something with the electrical bug. I have been going through our 382 over the last couple of weeks doing routine tightening of plumbing and electrical connections. I found a junction block with several large cables in the port side cockpit storage, you have to remove two screws to take out a filler panel at the back of the compartment to access this area. You will also find large cables behind the dash and behind the panel in the cabin. I would clean and tighten all of these connections, good luck and we hope to see you and your girl soon. Jeff & Mar
