Of course the older ones will have that wood swim platform. Some like it. Some remove it. I'm going to end up removing it and go with a tubular one.

This was really the worst of the boat. One of the hatched leaked so it needs new carpet in the cabin. But, this should give you a pretty good idea of the condition and my '85 is a very similar boat. The '86 has Kammas vs. my TRS but with my 85s blowers and engine work i'd say the engine/outdrive value is nearly a wash. Add a few bucks for the difference between '85 and '86 and basr it on the condition. I don't think you'd get to the mid 40s. Maybe high 30s. (I think they were asking $35 for mine and I got it for $31.) Now on the other hand if it has like 80 original hours (I think Cuda got his 302 next to new) and it's in great shape that's certainly worth the premium. I'd definitely have it surveyed.
I'd also see how eager they are to sell. Mine was in VT and they were either going to have to sell fast or winterize it so the seller was anxious. If you have pics of the '86 post 'em. |
I love it. But, I've only had it out once. We'll de-winterize here in Central TX around the first part of March. Can't wait.

Bford-maybe think about painting your foredeck hatches white, I did mine and I think it would look really good on yours. Russ

Yes, I had thought of that and wanted to dut on white rubrail also. What did you use to paint it? I assume you'd have to use some sort of flex agent in the paint for the plastic parts.
|
Believe it or not, I just used Krylons's "Fusion" paint, specially formulated to bond to plastic and it has a flex capability. You can get this at any hardware store. Worked surprisingly well and has held up nicely. Don't put it on too thick, just enough to not to be blotchy, spray in VERY thin coats. I got one of mine a little too thick and it cracked in a couple of spots. Sanded it back down, did the same as the other three and no more problems.

Outlaw - Thanks I'll have to try that. Did you paint both sides? I guess you would have to to get it to look right. And, I assume you painted them on thye boat. One of mine leaks so I am putting new rubber in it. But, if that doesn't help then I may have to remove it and rebed the entire hatch. Seems like a good time to paint it. I have never removed one of these hatches before but it seems fairly easy.

Thanks guys for the input. Just testing the market. You guys Know Formula so this is the place for helpful information. bfrod 1 you stole that boat. It looks like a sweet ride. Here are a few pics of my bird. I am thinking of getting into a 382 or a 353. What do you think?
