Boat arrived Saturday afternoon. Now when is the rain and cold weather going to end!?!

Boat is in great shape for a 1989. I guess the boating season is short in New Hampshire. To me the boat is huge compared to my old 18' Sea Ray. Now I guess I need to learn how to drive this monster.

Congrats, Yes this boat is big for a 24 but it will ride great. New england boating june, july, august a little in sept. then it starts to get cool.

Believe me you're going to love it.

Quick questions. This boat has the 454 magnum, bravo drive and Keikeifer (sp?) controls. With these controls the throttle is separate from the shifter. Did I read that the drive should not be shifted if the engine is not running at idle?

Apparently this boat has a "low water pickup." I've been advised not to use earmuffs to flush the motor as it will not get enough water. Is there a special adapter I should use?

Correct on both counts
DO NOT SHIFT BRAVOS without the engine running.
Merc does make a little rubber cup to go over the lwp with a strap and clip to hold it in place.
If you MUSt shift and can't start the engine have someone spin the propeller while you shift. Just don't try it with everthing at rest.

The trailer needs some work. Check out the front right tire in this picture. The brakes on the trailer don't work at all. I'm going to keep the boat in a boatel so fixing it might not be a priority for awhile.

Enjoy the new 242. Ride will not even compare to your 18, especially when there are a few bumps.

Congrats I`m jealous of your bolsters every thing looks great. I did new breaks last year it will make a difference.
