Question Cabin Question

Ok guys I have a question about the couch on my '87 311. The boat has the rap around couch with the walk way in the center. I want to build a insert that would make the area into one big bed Anywany I want to know of anyone has done this before. I also heard that Formula had made an option for this on the boat. I tried to call Formula today but it was to late. I have attached a pic do its kind poor but you can get the idea. Let me know what you guys think.

We had a similar arrangement in our Powerquest 280. Here's how they did it; there were two removable bars that ran across the walkway. The filler cushions (there were two) for the walkway sat on these bars. The bars went into holes drilled in the storage areas under the seats.

Basically, you'd pull the bars out, slide them into the holes in the kickplate for the facing lounges, then put the filler cushions on top. Done. Easy and simple. I imagine you could do something very similar on any boat that has facing lounges.

I have a 272 SR1 and the previous owner did just that.
On both side couches he screwed a piece of clamshell molding just below the cushion and made two pieces of plywood that would lay in place between the couches. Then had a filler cushion made up to fill in. The two pieces of plywood stow in the closet next to the sink. The filler cushion gets tossed on the v-berth on one side or the other up against the hull
Works out very well.

Never heard of that being an option from Formula on older models, but check out a newer 382 ... they are a standard feature now.
