For Sale: Need Some Opinions
#11
My two cents: it's too bad the TRS drives are frowned upon. They handle more power than a Bravo 1, they shift smoother, and with a nose cone the hydrodynamicis are cleaned up considerably. The downside is seperate trans (which can be a good thing) because of weight and the need to have the engines further forward, however, that can help the balance of the boat. I personally would not write a boat off because it had TRS drives, but I can't speak for the average boater. I just sold a specialty motorcycle, and I had to find that one person who not only knew what it was but appreciated it for what it was, what had been done to it, and most importantly how it had been cared for. The proverbial needle in the haystack who wants your boat. Keep a for sale sign handy and display everytime your are out in the boat. And talk it up. Good luck......

I agree with Outlaw. It looks clean but you have to find the right buyer. If you're like me you'll shop for a year or so looking for a deal. Honestly, a 1987 for $45 wouldn't have sounded like a deal to me. But, when you look at how clean it is it's probably worth it. Maybe a little lower on the asking price would help. It's a nice looking boat. Are you getting something newer / bigger?
Oh BTW I just toasted my right side TRS outdrive. So, I can understand the sentiments about TRSs.

Thanks for the feedback.... I guess that leaves me with 3 choices then, SINK,BURN or BURY.... I new I should of bought a Coleman.... Seriously, I cant even find a boat that has the same cockpit and cabin room as this old girl. None of the newer boats 31' even come close. Even the 35' ers are a joke... Syracuse, NY

Looks nice in the pictures. Just need to be patient, and if you want to sell it, keep advertising. Tough part is going to be is that it's an '87. But, these old 311's are tanks. So you just need to find the right buyer. These old Formula's are still popular.
Don't forget last year there were a number of performance boats on the market that were very aggressively priced on the asking price. I hate to think of how cheap some of this stuff went for. Depending on how motivated you are to move the boat, you may want to consider adjusting your asking price. Especially since the season is just around the corner.

It books at 45 grand, but no one seems to be actually getting that. I know of three 311's, one of them totally mint, with newer trailers that have been for sale for well over a year. Asking price ranges from low to upper-mid 30's.
