I had a 87' Formula doing well over 100 mph last year for about 2 miles. Had a nice long strait shot and went for it! Slowed down after that. Got a little concerned about the wheel-bearings, and getting a speeding ticket...

Dude Wow!!!!

I'm looking for 100 mph next time out with a little tweaking. I am down 2# on boost since I put on the new exhaust so I am sure when I bump that back up I will pickup another 1 or 2 mph.

The first 2 laps of the race were awesom, I was head to head with a close friend of mine in a 42' Fountain Poker Run edition with twin Merc 600SC's.

Thats awesome, one question though, What is a poker run race?

PhantomChaos 03-28-2008 01:59 AM

Awesome. Do you guys really have poker runs in the Cayman Islands? Tell us about that $hit!!!!!! :D Are they all topless?

CayFomula 03-28-2008 06:25 AM

I think it would be more accurate to say we have a race that is combined with a game of 5 card stud the prize for which is up to $1M but normally $10k. The organizer tries to make it a spectator event instead of being a boater event. The race takes place over about 60 miles and unlike a poker run it is continuous. You draw 2 cards before the race and 3 after for the poker hand.

Unfortunately because it is more of a race there are not normally any ladies on the boats just 2 racers with jackets and helmets.

I have also gone through the hull complelely (replacing stringers and bulkheads, adding two small stringer under the engines and glassing the hull and deck together), repainted the hull.

I am convinced she would have hit 100mph this weekend if the drive had held up till we burn off some fuel.

The best part is we still won the race with one motor, we were able to maintain 60mph on the one and all of the other real fast boats broke so with the lead we had we still won.

Fantastic, **** that your drive broke down.

How many Gal/Hour at ful speed??

CayFomula 03-28-2008 06:02 PM

I'm not sure on the GPH but I expect about 140 - 150gph based on the old rule of thumb that a gas engine burns about 10 gals per hour per 100 hp.

The drive is giving me a bit of difficulty coming apart (separating upper from lower) so I don't actually know how serious it is yet. I took of the top cap and everything looked good there so I am hoping it is something simple like the coupler broke.

We want pics. of the new paint and the last poker run/race. When can we try one of the engines in my 223ls?
