offthefront- What pitch are those? I just bolted the 24's on and I think they work great with my power. The midrange goes off compared to what I had- my seat of the pants impression is that the boat rides a lot higher in the water with the 4 blades than the 3's. Slick02, I had 25 mirage pluses on my boat and was not happy with the performance- felt like the boat was really dragging in the water unless I trimmed the chit out of it.

Mike, work on the "shine" on those props, will ya?????? LOL
I disagree completely about running 21's on our 311's. If I was running 21's I'd be blowing my motors up way over the redline.
"SW", yes your boat will be riding higher out of the water, those Quad's are lifting the stern out farther and giving you a better ride attitutde all around. Why they work so good. I'm glad it worked out for you. Russ

If Reggie built as quality a boat as Formula, you'd see a whole lot more mid/late 80's Fountains still around. When was the last time you saw an 88' Fountain?
He's way too hung up on "being the fastest". Have heard alot about "after the sale" issues regarding problems.
I'm never going to be the fastest, I don't want to be the fastest, I just want a good solid boat under me, and that's what I have in my 89' Formula. It still doesn't rattle.

I just ran my 336 today with a set of 23 hydromotives. Hole shot great, midrange seemed better but could only spin them to 4400-4450 rpm at 61-62mph or so with half a tank of gas and 1' chop. My boat is heavier than a 311 but the overall length is about the same. I need to pick up 500 to 600 rpm to make these props work which probably puts me in the 21 hydro or 22 hydro lab finished. Any thoughts?

Powerguy, I'm surprised you lost that amount of rpms. What does your boat weigh? I thought our boats were basically the same except on yours the silent thunder box is glassed in while ours are bolted on. To get 500 rpms I'd say you'd have to drop to a 21 inch pitch.
What were you running before? Russ

A friend of mine recently bought a 336, which I thought was a 311 with a built on platform. Well, sort of. They put a taller deck on it than a 311, and a few other changes that equates to almost 1000 lbs extra weight in a 336! The hull overall is the same design though. So the weight distribution and overall weight of a 336 is different than the 311 design. Actually his boat came with a set of 24 bravos (I know those are different than the hydros), and he tried my 25 mirages and the boat ran much better.
I think you can send your 23P Hydro's to the factory, have the pitch reduced to a 22P, and possibly have them labbed. That probably would give you the RPM's you need. Give them a call, they are very good at making recommendations. If they are new I would return them and just start with a 21 or 22P depending on what they said. They have a good policy about swapping props if they aren't right.

Mine is a 88' 311 with 98 ZZ502's, freshened up this year with a pair of Crane #168741 cams, TRS drives. With labbed 25 Mirage Plus's spinning in Ill see 77mph on my gaffrig GPS speedo, at 5400rpm. @3800rpm I can cruise at 54/55mph depending on trim and water. With a super light load I saw 78mph last year, but that was with the ZZ cams. I tried stock 27 plus's, spinning in, but wasnt happy, cruising speed only picked up by a mph or so, WOT was 5100/5200 rpm @76.5 mph. The 27's feel real heavy,I like the labbed 25's the best, they plane super strong and cruise good, with good top end.
Quick question. All you guys running Hydro's, are you spinning them in or out? Might try a set next year.
