It is, but I think it might be more work than I would like to take on. Might be a different story if I had room to put the boat at the house, but as it is, I'd have to store it a good 1/2 hr away. Hard to get away to mess with it when you've got two young kids at home. And the Kaamas scare me a bit (though the roostertail is absolutely badass! )

There was a 1986 357 for sale last summer on North River road in Clinton Township. I found it when I was riding around looking for a boat and I stopped because at first I thought it was a 311. It hadn't been registered since '00 and it had been stored inside. Really clean, all original, lady owner. She had it at a marina to prep it for selling and she seemed willing to deal. I would have considered it but I was only looking at 311's since that's the biggest boat the marina I'm in could rack store. I'm pretty sure I could find the marina that had it if you're interested. BTW - what's wrong with moose fur ???

Mouse fur, not moose fur - what are you guys, a bunch of damn foreigners that don't speak english? The grey carpet and cushions look like mouse fur...

The TRS's would scare me much more in that big of a boat.

I wouldn't let the Kaamas scare me away. Just something you have to get used to, like most other stuff.

Far as I know, the TRS drives are pretty damned durable. Especially if they have the B/W trannys in them. They are just not very efficient in hydrodynamics. A nose cone usually works pretty well on the. I know four guys who put the Hydromotive nose cones on them and they picked up 4 mph on the top end (well one guy only got 3). Two of them are running 600 hp and have never had a problem with them.

I believe that the TRS is actually a more hydrodynamicly designed unit then the Bravo. Bravo's you have to add the nose cone over 65 or so. Trs's are fine up to about low 80's. I took my nose cones off and gained a MPH. I do not plan on putting them back with the new motors either. Freeking hate Nose Cones!! They just crack and look ugly...

Not from durability, but from a parts $$$ standpoint. Plus Konrads will bolt right up in place of the TRS drives.

And I'm not sure I'd want my kids swimming around those meat cleavers!

The parts are over the counter gears and bearings. The only thing you can't buy it the case itself.

Not to mention the Kaama's usually give about a 10% increase in speed.

I was given to understand that it was hard to find parts for the Kaamas. Hmmm, learn something new every day. I'd still worry about the kids swimming off the back, though.

What kind of props do those drives run? Can you run Bravo or SSM style props? (Now we're going to have this thread veer off into a discussion of Kaama drives - I love OSO )
