--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Well, my Donzi is not ready for the weekend. The owner called me today, and gave me the number to the guy that's working on it. (They are in the process of moving the shop). Around 10 this morning, he said it should be done by the afternoon. I drove to Clearwater. I had to stop at my cuz's house to give him his paycheck. While I was there, the mech called me and said it wouldn't be done, because when he fired it up, there was noise from the bottom end. I said hang on, I'll be right there to listen to it. He started it up, and sure enough, a knock. My oil was full of water, before, I had only seen a very little bit of oil, but now it is emusified. My original problem with the valve train was from the heads not being assembled properly. The push rod guides weren't centered correctly, so the push rods weren't going in the center of the lifter. He also found one valve ony had one half of the keeper on it, and said I was lucky not to suck a valve. He said he thinks the water is coming from a cracked head. He's going to pull the engine tomorrow, then send the heads out to be checked next week. I think it might be the deck on the block myself. When I had the machine work done to the block, I didn't have them deck it. I thought it looked ok. Then when I had the bottom end assembled and was installing the head gasket, I took a closer look at the block, and wished I had decked it, but by then, I was trying to get the engine ready for last year's Donzi run at Mt Dora, so I put it together. I told him if he has to have any machine work done, to go ahead and have the blocked decked this time. I found out why it's taken so long. This poor guy is by himself, with about ten boats backed up. He has been working seven days, and late nights trying to catch up. I was a little bitter it was seven weeks to diagnose the problem, and finding it out on my drop dead date of needing it, but I think he's doing the best he can, and he seemed to know what he's doing. Such is life in the boating world. Maybe I'll have it together by the time our Donzi December run comes back around.

I bought the heads off the internet, and I didn't check them. I should know better. One of my saying is, " Never expect what you don't inspect. "

Sung to the tune of "Sgt. Pepper"....

Well it was 99 days ago,
That Cuda's 302 was on the go,
Been sittin on the trailer since
Gathering dust, leaves and lint,
The water seems so far away
And you can hear Mr. Cuda say,
Sgt. Cuda's Lonely Heart's Club Band.......

Congrats, Cuda you have made it into a very exclusive club. It`s almost like living up north but it`s more like 200 days we have off and your half way there Look on the bright side at least you can go out for a ride on your bike that`s not broken is it?

Just having some fun hope things work out soon.

As I have said, I don't want to belong to any clubs whose standards are so low as to allow me as a member. I'll quit this club very soon!

Wasn't it W.C. Fields that said:

" I would never join a club that would have me as a member"???????

Maybe the "C" stood for "Cuda"....
