Here are some pictures of the frist prototype swim platform we've made for my 86 SR357. It's made of Starboard stuff--1" thick, with 1" reinforcements where the supports are to be attached. THe old teak platfrom is laying on floor--it's 6 years old, in salt water all that time.

Plan is to mount the platform at the top of the outdrives--below the exhaust outlets so it sits right at the water instead of way up by the rub rail.

The maximum projection from transom is 30"

We'll see how it plays out.

What does the finished product weigh?

Iwas by the shop Friday bu the weather forecast looked so lousy I didn't bring it home. TUrns out we could have installed it today--weather was perfect all day. Have no clue what it weighs--at this point best I can say is it seems to weigh about the same as the smaller teak platform I'm replacing.

We're planning on doing some testing and perhaps starting a web-store to sell a variety of replica's.

What kind of glue did you use to adhere the reinforcing sections?

We drew the pattern using Auto-cad and downloaded cnc data to an automated router. Not sure of name of adhesive but it's heat and pressure activated on a large clamping/heating press.

I'll have to get all the details when I pick it up tomorrow--

What have you done to "de-slick" the material, so it's safe to stand and walk on?

We're going to cut an "X" or criss-cross pattern (will be diagonal grooves about 2"-4" apart) using the CNC router OR use that material that's used in tubs and showers for purpose. It comes in white and it's the simplest option--just might not look as good as it should after this level of effort.. We've been talking about what's going to look best over and be least cleaning problem over time.
