Looks like a 353

Re: 05 382-Birmingham Boat Show
I think if they took up some of the yellow forward with one more color, it'd be just a little more likable.

Re: 05 382-Birmingham Boat Show
Hey you guys with the 382's can you tell me anything about them? The one I'm looking at is a 1998 with hp500's. The boat has 280 hrs. on it. Is the hull on a 98 the same as the 2004-2005. The boat has everything but a gen. what would be a good price? What kind of handling characteristics,(porposing) and speed will this boat do?
Thanks for any help. Dale |

Re: 05 382-Birmingham Boat Show
Dale,
I have the 2001 (listed in the classifieds) The 98's have the latest hull design. You have aspirated motors as opposed to injection like is on the newer ones. (99 and up I believe) That brings the price of the 98's down a little. I would say you should pick it up low 100's (100-105) if perfect condition. I have the generator on mine and wouldn't go without one. Personal preference. Look for a good graphic design for resale too. You'll love the handling of the 38's too. I run up to 75-77 mph and it's a dream at 45 cruising. |

Trout,
What is the difference in the new drives and what prop changes did they make? I didn't see anything specified in the '05 literature on the newer drives. |
Re: 05 382-Birmingham Boat Show
Dukenrock you mean that the hull of a 98 is the same as the hull they have now, the steps and everything are all the same? The one I am looking at has extension boxes, how much does that help handling? Thanks

Re: 05 382-Birmingham Boat Show
yes, no changes. The 382 FasTech is the same hull today as when introduced as a '97 model. '98 was the switch to white dash ect. from the black, as it appears today. The deck is the deck from the 382 SR1 of the mid 90's. X dimensions may have varied some, not sure about that. Standard X was raised an inch or more on the 353 after 2 or 3 years of production, 2000/2001?

Re: 05 382-Birmingham Boat Show
My '05 382 was built before the restlyed Bravos came out. Mostly just a cosmetic change but Merc does claim smoother shifting due to a redesigned shift dog. I notice a little difference in a single lever control, but with Livorsis it is no big deal. As for props, the 5-blade Hydros work extremely well, the 5 blade Maximas do also. I will try for more photos tonite, last nite was a zoo,it was so busy we even forgot to call my neighbor to let our 5 Labs(dogs, not props) out of the house. They were inside from noon to midnite but fortunately,no problems(we left the TV on)
