Anybody Removed/Replace Wall Covering in SR357? Mine is a grey textured vinyl like material that feels like it has some sort of foam or cushioning material behind it. I want to replace it or just cover over it it possibly wiht MirrorFlex or may teak like formica.Has anybody ever tried this project?

flyby--I'm definitly an interior "desecrator". I had a boat with a teak interior way back and my "memory" pictured it as not bad looking. I took anther look at the interior of my Formula and I've straightened up !! It helped that I found a lot of pictures of really well done interiors in the last few days.
Thanks for the consult--LOL

I completly striped my 35-7 this winter and you are right! The grey vynil is glued the a thin foam. This thin foam is also glued, but on the hull side. The only problem you may have is when pulling on the vynil, you will probably see in some area the foam tearing off the wall and sticking on the vynil. Then you have 2 choices: tearing off completly the foam or just patching with a new piece of foam everywhere it came off!

When I talked to Formula about how they would replace the answer was that sometimes in manufacturing it was necessary to replace that liner nad they just covered over rather than remove the old stuff.
From what you've seen is that a viable approach?
What are you replacing original covering with? I haven't decided what I'm going to sue yet so I'd bevery interested.

Jeff32--when you stripped interior did you se where the fresh water supply line was routed from the tank to the sink on the port bar cabinet?
I want to replace the semi-rigid tubing the factory used with regualr reinforced hose because of the fittings they used. I can see where it leaves the are where the tank is and I can see where it comes into that cabinet--I can't see how it actually runs under the "couch" area.

Poorsche, if I'm not mistaken, the material goes on much like the headliner material in a car/truck. Once you pull the old material off, any residual foam that is left can be easily removed with a wire brush. Headliner material comes with the foam backing already attached. 3M makes a spray adhesive designed specifically for headliner application. Spray a coat on the foam backing and a coat on the surface it is to be mounted to and then lay the material down. I bet the material in the cabin mounts much the same way.

I know it doesn't run on top of that shelf and I never thought to look under that shld behind the bakcrest. I was assuming it ran thru a "chase" under/ the seat of the couch.
