1. '96 336 SR-1
2. Flashpoint Imron graphics ('96 only) with 502 Mag MPI's
3. '96 tri-axle aluminum trailer; tow with 3/4 ton GMC van
4. There are some tears in the sunpad upholstery that I'll get fixed, and the first real mod will probably be to replace the silent thunder exhaust system. Just bought it, so most of the mod money is going to gas this summer!

Isn't your "box" glassed in? If so what are you planning on doing? Or can you bypass the box and somehow exit straight out of the transom?

I'm not a "new" Formula owner so I won't bore anyone anymore with pix. But I LOVE mine with the silent thunder box GONE.

The swim platform on this boat is molded in as part of the structure and is separate from the silent thunder box. Here's a photo of one with the ST removed....

Re: Calling All Formula Owners!!!

1.) 1991 formula 311
2.) Custom paint with race faring: 502 mags
3.) 2001 3/4 ton extended cab dodge ram with a V10. aluminum tri axle trailer
4.) Where do I begin:
Rebuild complete engines (800 hours on them) to make 500 hp.
Over haul drives and install 2" shorties and new merc 5 blades.
Custom paint engine compartment to match outside.
Redo interior to five man bolsters with walk way over engine hatch.

It is going to be a busy year.

Re: Calling All Formula Owners!!!

1. 1985 302

2. Custom gray hull with name painted on side, warmed up 468's spinning 26 Bravo's on TRS drives through BW tranny

3. Current trailer is a steel Myco pulled by PSD Excursion. Sitting in the shed is a steel 40' trailer that is built heavier than the Myco (didn't think that was possible), just in case the boat "grows".

4. Finish the #^&*%#! race faring. Finish the reupholstry project (Lakeluver here on the OSO has been great to work with). New throttles, cables, indicators, and if I find a good enough deal and have not spent the money on something else again, external steering and 4" exhaust tips. Does waxing count as a mod? :D

1986 302 Kaama. Warmed over 468's. 2004 Quickload triple axle trailer, pull with a 2002 F250 PSD.

I love this boat! Right now it's waiting to be put in the shop because I broke off a piece of the starter and it's jammed in the flywheel.

Mods this year: A new sundeck for sure. I want to make it all white with a yellow bird in the middle.

New throttles going in, I've had them for eight months, I hate the one's that are in it now.

I also have my never ending project boat. A 1981 Formula 20Sc with a 355/330 hp FWC and Alpha drive
. I need to paint the deck and the bottom, then fashion a new cockpit for it. I've had the seats for it for well over a year. I need to build an engine cover/sundeck for it.

1984 F402. All white Imron at this point. Was going to do vinyl but other projects have taken precedence. So far we have gutted the entire cockpit. Got new bolsters from Hottops.com and enough spare vinyl to recover the hatches, rear seat, and side panels. All of which are getting new backings before recovering. We are making two hatches that open to the sides instead of one big hatch-damn that thing is heavy  I am also thinking about a bird in the middle-did we ever find a good jpg or eps file of that thing?? We are also rebuilding both transom assemblies since the lower gimbal pivot bearing in each was shot. Adding oil thermostats to bring the temps up and rebuilding the carbs. Hope we got enough time to get it all done :(

Here ya go: http://www.hottopsmarine.com/

The build quality is good, the frame and the vinyl work is nice, and the prices are real good.

But (there's always a but) they are kind of wide, I would have asked for them about 3 inches narrower inside. And the latch deal they use is a little primitive. It works and appears fairly strong but it will rattle when the seats are down.

Make sure you ask for the OSO discount- it saved us about a hundred bucks. He said he gets about 40 sets a year from here-he should pony up and advertise

03 382 w/ 575's and ITS, Flame graphic. Manning trailer being pulled w/ a 3/4 ton Burb. Generally pull only a few miles. I know I am under-trucked. 2500 HD w/ a Max in the future. Helper springs on the Burb and 3 axle disc electric /hydraulic brakes on the trailer help. As far as the boat, being this is my 4th new Formula, not the best foot forward by Thunderbird! Wrink

Congrats on moving the Porsche, I did a 997 yesterday and have 3 GT3's to do later this week(race cars), I sent the papers off today for the Tiger, so that should be settled tomorrow or the next day, having a Myco built for it, then head down to pick it up. as long as the weather is good towards the end of march first of april, I'll have it out. I'll have to spend a couple weekends unwrapping and doing the spring cleaning, and checking everything, it was all fine when wrapped, but we all know how the bilge gremlins are.

Yeah, I office in a "high rent district ", and all you guys in the Missions/shelters near my building drive Porsche's. :D

The 311, like your 242, are probably the most popular Formula's of all time. (The 330SS is getting close to that ranking, but not there yet.) If you grad to a 311, you'll be quite pleased with it.

Did you ever decide on a yard tractor to launch your next boat?

I'd like to hear more about project to split the hatch cover. My cover on an 87 SR357 is heavier than I like it to be for the lifter that's used. I think the side opening would also help with some maintenance jobs.

Post some thoughts about how you are going to fabricate the thingif you can.

THANKS

Re: Calling All Formula Owners!!!

We are doing it in 3/4" treated plywood that will be covered with a pad. The back side will be covered with vinyl or that black mesh stuff. We may also put mirrors back on the inside once the engine are cleaned up and painted properly. It will need a channel piece in the center to keep the center from sagging, but overall the 3/4 is very strong. Each side will have it's own lifter and can be lifted separately. A friend of mine's 40 Fountain was done this way and it worked out great. I'm not sure if the boat will lose any weight from this mod but it does make some work and access easier. We will lose significant weight with the interior changes that are being done and the space in the cockpit gained by getting rid of the bulbous side panels is amazing.

Here are pics of the Fountain-note the rams near the front on each side. His are done with black vinyl on the backs and have cutouts for the blowers in them-still very sturdy. And his hatches are somewhat smaller so a center brace is not used. (each of the F402 hatches are 54" X 40")
