Goin to Alabama

Say bye bye to the '01!!! :( :(
See Nelem's for details! |
Re: Goin to Alabama
keep it under 100!
oh, and don't go around down there at night without a local. ;) Deliverance comes to mind. :p |
Re: Goin to Alabama
Looks like you ought to lift that hitch height about 6 inches before you go down the road. Front of your trailer is too low. That's pretty hard on your front trailer axle assembly and tires.
But, good luck on your trip and with your new boat. You gotta be pretty excited. Hope all goes smooth. |
Re: Goin to Alabama
self serving disclaimer:
no offense intended to those OSO members or thier families, who live, work, or sell boats in Alabama. :D |
Re: Goin to Alabama
yea, she does look a little toungue heavy?
or is it the angle of the photo? got an adjustable ball hieght drawbar? I'm sure the duallie would mask alot of it, but it looks ripe for some sway in that photo, pushing the back end of the truck around. Especially braking  There's so many idiots out on the road  ...only the very best handling setup will do. |
Re: Goin to Alabama
OK, this is a rookie question so forgive me up front...
How do you tow that without a weight distributing hitch system? Total weight on that rig has got to be close to 12K lbs, right? Reason I'm asking is I'm trying to set my 3/4 ton van up to tow my 10K rig and everyone I've talked to locally says the only way to do it is with a WD hitch.... |
Re: Goin to Alabama
Hey,Rippem,Deliverance was in Georgia, this is Alabama :D

Re: Goin to Alabama
Mr. and Ms. Dukenrock (Kevin and Kelly) made it safely to Alabama with no Deliverance problems. We are all going to a local beer/BBQ joint to talk about boats! Robert
|
Re: Goin to Alabama
That's good to hear!
You're able to pry him away from that new boat long enough to get some grub and grog? |
Re: Goin to Alabama
I'm saving the good stuff for the morning! Spent a little time looking at all of the Formulas Robert has in stock. He's got a nice inventory! Looked at the outside of the new one, gonna wait till tomorrow AM to open it up and look at it. Robert and Karen took us to a "local" watering hole and had the best Pork in the world! Beers went down well too. :D
We were talkin about putting you in this '01 382 he just got in. You'd look great in it and Robert said he can make it happen. Give him a call!!!! :drink: :drink: :drink: They're great people!!! |

Made it back to Ft Wayne with the new 382. Boat towed great. 1300 miles round trip. Robert and his wife Karen as well as his "son" were all a pleasure to meet. Robert has his own style of selling boats.....And I really liked it! Thanks Robert. Keep up the good work.

Re: Goin to Alabama
Robert, did you take them to Jim N' Nicks or to the Green Top?
|
Re: Goin to Alabama
Green Top, of course,we take everyone there from out of town. When the Formula factory folks come down they go there to. Yesterday we took a Formula buyer from Sweden to the Green Top,he had never tasted good ol southern pig pork BBQ.He had a Budweiser, tho. :drink:

Re: Goin to Alabama
I figured it was Green Top, good choice. One thing about Alabama, we may be last in many things but we know our BBQ.
Folks, I've bought three Formula's from Robert( two 271's and one 312) and you will not find a better person to do business with. Good southern hospitality and service. Thanks for the welcome. |
Re: Goin to Alabama
Robert, I took a ride with John G last Saturday in his 400 to Duskin to get some fuel and he was talking about trading possibly next year for another one. I thought you might like to know that tid bit of information. You never know about John, he may see one he likes this year and pull the trigger.

Re: Goin to Alabama
Welcome,Bubba. (Note to you Northern guys, his name actually is Bubba, and he's a dentist, Dr. Bubba I guess)Good to hear from you, time for you to get back into a Formula, the kids are old enough now :D
|
Re: Goin to Alabama
Thanks Robert, I knew you would figure it out very quickly. Thankfully Bubba is not my given name but somehow the nickname stuck with me. Oh well, I decided to carry the banner for all the Bubba's of the world and see if I could change the stereotype. ( probably not doing a very good job)
I like to keep up with the boating world even though I am on the sidelines right now. I never knew what two kids under three will do to your boating and free time. Thankfully I can see the light at the end of the tunnel. You will probably here from me in the future.( pc, ss or something like) Have a good one! |
Re: Goin to Alabama
so the question is...
do I want to get a checkup from a southern dentist named Bubba, who handle is "extractor"? :D "uhhh what are those big pliers for? I'm just here for a cleaning". |
Re: Goin to Alabama
O.K...it's a nickname, but I'm still scared!
|

Re: Goin to Alabama
Aah, Come on guys, give the new guy some slack. You would be surprised what a southern dentist named Bubba can accomplish. Once again the stereotype raises it's ugly head.
Rippem, I have some extra special pliers for the boys above the Mason Dixon line. |
Re: Goin to Alabama
Third...I thought I was your Bubba?
Just KIDDING! |
Re: Goin to Alabama
Once again,Dr. John (not really Bubba),welcome to our crazy world here. A great bunch of Formula owners that make us Alabama guys feel at home. Fifteen years ago we didn't even know how to spell Formula, and look at us now.Glad to have you aboard. Robert
|
Re: Goin to Alabama
Dr. John, welcome aboard. If you are presently boatless, this board is a great source of boating "entertainment".
Sounds like Robert has another customer for life. :) Buying a boat from Robert reminds me of that girl in high school...you know...the one you heard so many "good" things about, you just had to have her! You know what I mean? ;) Strange sounding analogy I know...forgive me, It's been 5 mos. since I've had a boat ride...and I own one! |
Re: Goin to Alabama
Thanks guys for the welcome, I hope to be back on the water in a real boat(something besides our family pontoon, which btw is very nice and ofcourse bought from Robert) soon. Maybe I am a little spoiled but everytime I start looking around at other makes I always come back to Formula, truly the class of the boating industry. Btw you guys can call me Bubba, no problem.
Probably will not post much but I will read your posts from time to time to keep up with whats going on. Rippem, the best thing about Robert is that you can TRUST him, enough said. Btw just kidding about the pliers. Have a good one. |

Re: Goin to Alabama
Troutly.
I know you know how it feels! I actually brought it back without even starting the engines! My decision because I didn't want to chance the freezing weather taking it home. I have a close eye on the weather forecast! Thanks for the congrats! (I'm still trying to figure out how to turn the damn radio on! :D )

Re: Goin to Alabama
This radio is actually much less complicated than my previous one...I hit the button that should be the power button and nothin happens. I do have the battery switches on and the Radio circuit breaker switch set to on. No circuits breakers are open. Robert had the radio working. I wonder if soemthing came loose while traveling back. I'm gonna get the old volt meter out and start tracing things. Maybe just got a bad radio.

Re: Goin to Alabama
Sometimes you have to hold the button for a sec ?
Why not just run it back over to the Dealer ? Still under warranty ... :D |
Re: Goin to Alabama
The manufacturer would be closer. We don't have any dealers near me!!!!
I'm hoping someone can come out here and show me how simple it is.
