Not enough gauges!
1 Attachment(s)
My 336 is woefully short on gauges, and I don't really care for the look/design of the current panel. Reading the other thread on panels is giving me ideas of starting over with a blank sheet of paper. Some of the gauges I'd add would be:
Are there any other cool gauges/monitors worth adding? Current panel: |
Re: Not enough gauges!
Maybe water pressure?
The dash I'm doing is on my 382. This is my second project. I re-did my 1997 Fastech 312 about 4 years ago. I got all the parts from a Formula Dealer so it was pretty easy. Nothing custom. Old http://www.vxi.cc/312/images/P0002053.JPG New http://www.vxi.cc/312/images/P0002132.jpg |
Re: Not enough gauges!
Nice upgrade!
I hadn't thought about water pressure, but that's a great idea...instant notification if you lose an impeller or a water pump... |
Re: Not enough gauges!
NICE upgrade!...........was never a fan of the grey dash.
I put a Nordskog GPS speedo in my 292 and LOVE it. Even reads speed backwards! Would recommend this definitely as an upgrade or similar from another mfgr. |
Re: Not enough gauges!
Thanks..........pretty silly, but I threw all the old parts away. Then I posted my pics when I finished it and some guys wanted to by the VDO stuff from me. Oh well.
You can see how they spaced the gauges so it is easy to add a GPS right in the middle (where the "FasTECH" is). I couldn't get that "FasTECH" thing to stick to the dash on the other side since that thing got so hot during the summer. |
Re: Not enough gauges!
I can see all cept ammeter ....maybe ... it would indicate alt output ? if you watch voltmeters ... if alt quits the voltage will drop .... I do question one voltmeter ...unless there was a switch to check each output ....

My 1989 has two voltmeters and the both read the same. If I run one battery they both read that one. They are not set up to read the battery associated with the engine on that side. I added fuel pressure , oil temp and water pressure  |

Re: Not enough gauges!
Third,
Next season , turn on one battery and one ignition switch. Next start the other engine and watch the one that's not running. You'll see what I mean. That's why Formula dropped one guage ;) |

You can tell by turning one ignition on and reading the volt meter(engine not running) now start the other engine and watch both volt meters...they will both charge  . Now shut iff the one that's running and both meters will drop ;) |
Re: Not enough gauges!
Sounds like you have your battery switch set to "both", or you're wired up wrong.

Hmmm.... get back with ya .....
