Default Fuel Gauges - 38 Fountain

Any ideas how many gallons of fuel in a single tank if the gauge reads:

1/4

1/2

3/4

4/4 70 gallons?

Assume boat is on the trailer and ground level.

I think mine hold 110 a side and when I reads 1/4 you better be ready to paddle.

My tank hold 75 gallons, runs on full almost all day as soon as that gauge drops it drops fast. Don't plan any long drives if that gauge reads below 1/2!!! First time out had 1/2 couldn't even make up river to the marina for gas ran out had to be towed. Now as soon as that gauge drops off full I'm looking for gas!!!

I just watched the New Owners Video sent to me by Gail at Fountain. Reggie said sitting in the water, 1/2 on gauge is 1/4 of fuel, 1/4 on gauge is actually 5-8 gallons.

I did a test at the gas station Saturday.... on the trailer!

From 3/4 to Full took 43 gallons per side, so...

If full is 70 gallons:

Single Duel

Full 70 140

3/4 27 54

so 3/4 on gauge is really less than 1/2 tank of gas

Here's a post from a while back...

http://www.offshoreonly.com/forums/s...ad.php?t=54431

It talks about folk's experiences with fuel gauges. Also discusses how to adjust your gauge readings, but the trick is making the "low" adjustment... the tank needs to be as close to empty as possible.
