anyone running sci600's
Just wanted to know if anyone was running sci600's to see what they thought . I have 525SC's now and wanted to know how much better these new motors might be.

Re: anyone running sci600's
Stick w/the 525s the 600s dont make a lot of extra ponies.. the 525 is realy pushing close to 565 and the 600 is @ 600
the poker run we just got has 525s and runs @ 100 the same boat w/600s is only 2-3 mph faster.. I would stick with the 525s |

I would stick with the 525s You can probably add an intercooler and maybe go to a 250 supercharger and send the carb to nickerson and get close to 600 out of what you have for a lot less money than going to the new engines. |
Re: anyone running sci600's
I thought the same thing, But I can not make up my mind. I do not see a lot of hipe on the 600's, but you see the 525 efi all over. And they do run good. Last weekend a 2005 35 fountain ran 88 on the gun stock and 95 degs with 95 % humity.

Re: anyone running sci600's
Had a 2005 42' Executioner with 525's and liked it, now have a 2006 42' Executioner with 600sci's and love it, 88mph full fuel, stock bravo props, me and four large friends (220-250lb ea). Getting ready to install shorty drives and herrings to see what they do.
The 600's are super smooth, have awesome pull and you gotta love the sound of two superchargers spinning. I personally do not think anyone could go wrong with either the 525efi's or the 600sci package after owning both of them. However, I feel the performance characteristics are a little more dramatic than everyone thinks between the two motors. |
Re: anyone running sci600's
Go ask Bajababi . He hangs out on the Superboat page. He knows all about it. I don't think he is too happy.

Re: anyone running sci600's
Kageman, If the 600's will push a 42 to 88, what would you think a single step 35 would run? And now that you have owned both which would you buy again.

Re: anyone running sci600's
I have no idea what they will do for a 35'. Apparently Fountain has had a 42 Lightning with 600's, shorties and herrings doing 95mph. That is why I decided to try them on my boat. My understanding also is that the 42' Executioner is about 1500lbs lighter also.

Re: anyone running sci600's
I Have 600sci's In My New 39 Super Vee From Nortech And I Think There Great. They Are About 5 To 7 Mph Faster Than The 525 Efi In The Same Boat. But What I Like Is The Torque Out Of These Engines. They Make The Boat Jump Out Of The Water Compared With The 525 Efi. Are They Worth The Extra Money ?? That Is A Personal Preference. To Me They Are .

Re: anyone running sci600's
I did the Oshkosh June poker run last year with my 05 42' Executioner with 525efi's with the same group as mentioned above and ran 78-80mph. This year I ran my 06 42' Executioner with the 600's and ran 88mph, same group on board. 8-9mph increase I think is substansial.
I will post my results once I run the boat with the shorties and herrings, either this weekend or next weekend. I agree with Marginmn, the torque is awesome with 600's. |
Re: anyone running sci600's
Saw the boat and the 2 Merc boxes at the warehouse...did you get them on and a chance to run it?
Also, I am finaly able to get over there to finish my carpet install...I love the black in there. Good luck with the upgrade let us know how she did. |
Re: anyone running sci600's
Gtting back to the price spread between the 525 + 600.
I heard the actual cost differance was $15k/motor.. Can any one verify this.... That's about the price of whipples and the whipples will get you much more hp.... I was told by a dealer, to buy the 42 X with 525's and 1.35 drives, then whipple out the motors to 850hp.... Any thoughts.... |
Re: anyone running sci600's
One more thing.... Does the 600 package come with its??????
That could be worth the differance |
Re: anyone running sci600's
It would be nice to have a 700hp kit for those...I don't think the Bravos with handle that 850 mark...
After riding on a 600SCi boat with the smart craft, it was cool to scroll through engine functions. |
Re: anyone running sci600's
how much wiring would have to be changed? or would the 600's pulg in to the harness of a 525sc . There must be more wiring for the smart system.

Re: anyone running sci600's
My 42 X w/ 600's, shorties, herrings, etc. will be here in 3 weeks. I'll let you know.

Re: anyone running sci600's
Buy a Fountain, do you boat out of sarasota? I used to live on Roberts Pt road back in the Late 70's.
|
Re: anyone running sci600's
I had a 2002 42 lightning with 575's, staggered that ran 89 at the factory and I saw 88 on my gps.
|
Re: anyone running sci600's
That is good speeds out of a stock boat.

That could be worth the differance First pass thru this thread I could have sworn this said TITS... :D  :drink: It would definitely be worth the difference.... |
Re: anyone running sci600's
In identical Donzi 38 ZR's the difference is 8mph
|
Re: anyone running sci600's
I see in power boat that the new 38 donzi with 525's runs 92. that has to be a good ride. at a good price.
