On the trailer, I'm using the muffs without covering the holes in the bullets. Much easier. Is this a problem? The engines seem to get plenty of water and stay cool idling on the muffs. Any advice? Is it best to punch a hole in the oil filter before removing? Oil gets all over otherwise. 525's |
Re: Dumb question-Flushing motors
Def punch a hole in the oil filter and let it drain into oil pan. Merc sells an adapter that covers the nose cone of the drive. it is a little rubber cover with a strap that goes around the drive ... real easy to use. If anyone needs one just e-mail me at [email protected] and I will get you a price and ship it to you. Or check with your local merc dealer!

Re: Dumb question-Flushing motors
I have had good luck by using muffs on the side pickups and on the bottom pickups I cut some squares out of an old inner tube a little bigger than the holes on the bullet, then go over the rubber piece with 2" wide masking tape, it stick great, I sometimes put a little bit of grease on the rubber to bullet side for better sealing,

Re: Dumb question-Flushing motors
On my Tiger the fresh flush is on the starbord side, I love it, let it run for a bit to fluch the drive, then crank up the motor. put the cap back when done on or it will create a vacum at the impeller.
