Dumb question-Flushing motors
 

I have always used the ear muffs on Bravo 1's. My new XR's wont work with muffs as the torpedo needs to be sealed as well....water pouring out when muffs are on.

Inside engine compartment there are white hoses attached to the transom with spicket and a connection for the hose.

Can I just delete the muffs and hook my garden hose there to run motor on trailer?? tnks :frog:

If Yourtalking about the Fresh water flush option on your boat the answer is yes .. make sure when your done you reinstall the caps on the fittings or turn the ball valve (If so Equipt) and your good to go .You will note that water runs out of the drive untill you start the motor.. then it sucks in ..
If flushing in the salt at the dock it will also flush the crap out of the drive..

You can use the ear muffs, just put a piece of tape over the low water pickups on the nose.

I read in owner manual that tape can be put on....WTF how does that stay on? Can't imagine how it would.

Use the fresh water flusher. Just hook up your hose, then turn on water, open ball valve,now close spigot type valve to stop water from going out the drive,start that motor now when finished reverse order and go to other side and repeat. I run in salt water and flush every time i use the boat.

Not even sure why you need to start the motors. I can hear the water running through the heads and both manifolds even before starting. I've got two valves per engine: one directs the water from the inlet on the transom, the other directs the water to the drive or to the block. I flush out the drive -- sometimes I get long strings of seaweed coming back out -- and then I run water through the block. Sometimes I start the engines, but usually just to check something else, like charging.

I've got 640 hours on my engines, nearly all in salt water, no problems with salt or corrosion.

When I connect the hose to my flush setup it drips water all over my stainless pipes and the top of the rear engine. You know we can't have that!

Plus I have to climb into the engine compartment to turn the ball valves for each engine... and then remember to turn them off.

On the trailer, I'm using the muffs without covering the holes in the bullets. Much easier. Is this a problem? The engines seem to get plenty of water and stay cool idling on the muffs.

Any advice?
