Went for a ride on the boat above 98 38 500.s carbed, really liked it, making decision this week, I realize the air vents for engine comp., are dated, thanks for bringing to my attention, but I would realy like to know if the botom is 2nd generation from the 95, I plan on pulling motars and updating heads and cam, had a second question 500 carbed come with gill and the efi come with tubular type exhaust, is the gill going to hurt me hp wise compared to the tubular typle, I think CMI. I must say big difference from my 32. any help appreciated

thks Joe

CMI are the way to go, either CMI light or step into the full polished tubular, big difference. i believe the 98 hull is the same as 95, first generation but not 100% they changed on 2000 to second gen. sounds like a fun boat good luck.

Get the correct CMI's....There may have been water reversion probs with some of the HP 500's, check to be sure.

I think the revertion problem, came with the gill but not 100 sure and I know my 98 32 has larger step than a 95 32 thats why I was assuming the same for the 98 38

Thks for the replies Joe

cmis no reverion problems just make sure that if you run in brakish or saltwater that you flush them they tend to get pin hole on the inside welds if not
