Barryb what did you use to open/close them? I see no latch, just curious really thinking about doing this to the doors under my bolsters!
All you have to do is pull lightly on the top of the speaker and the velcro will start to release. Not one time did the doors fall open on their own in 3 years. I know the velcro sounds funky, but it really works. |
My 29 Fever had the Stereo Upgrade No 1. That means an amplifier and 4 speakers toghether with a wired remote under the drivers side panel. I put in a set of Audiobahn marine speakers where the mood lights were. It make rear passengers feel like they are on a concert. But the problem is that the position is higher so you don't hear the front speakers as much. I have also fittet 2 x 10" Infinity subs under the rear bench seat. They take some space, but I feel it is worth it. Also a MPX amp is fitted in front of the sink in the cabin. THROUGH bolted as I have never got a amp to stay in position with regular screws..... It plays very well, but I miss some more in the front area.
Also, where should I fit a TV?? I have thought about this for over four years, and I can't really decide where to put it!! The cas is that if I use the V-berth, the TV must be seen from the bed. Then it has to be mounted in front of the dashboard. BUT then again, if you sit in the bench sofa, you can't see it as it is right over your head... That have led me to the conclution that it have to be mounted at the position of the stereo. Then you can see it from both spots. But this seems like a very difficult place to have it mounted!! Any ideas on this one??? As for the wiring of the head unit, I have wired the cabin speakers to the head unit and the cockpit speakers to the amp. There is a "signal wire" from the head to the amp, and I have put a switch on this in order to shut off the "cockpit speakers' amp", to save a lot of power if I am inside the boat and I dont want people on the dock to hear music. Same goes for the subwoofer amp. I will also make a line in wire to the AUX connection frem the TV when that comes in. I will go for a TV with integrated DVD player. |

My HU plays DVDs, so I use it as my player, with the video out going to my flatscreen. The TV is 12VDC, so I can watch movies out on the water if I want. Mounted the TV where the mirror was. Made a box to surround the TV and to angle it a little for better viewing on both sides of the cabin. It's worked great for us. The mount was made to fit within the mirror mounting holes so I can change it back w/o having any holes from the TV mount. I've since removed the additional front RCA jacks as that was before I mounted the TV and used them for when TV sat on the counter and simply plugged it into the Video out jack. The audio in jacks was for connecting the Ipod, but that has also been changed over to hardwired directly to the rear of the HU. |

I also put a set of 6.5" mb quarts where the emblem lights were. You will have to make a trim ring and cover it with vinyl because the speakers are a little smaller in diameter than the emblem lights. I put 4 2-way 8" pioneers under the rear seat. To get more speakers in the cockpit, I removed the fold down access doors and replaced them with marine board cut out the same exact size to hold speakers. That way if I ever sell/upgrade I can take the speakers with me. I have two pair of MB quarts 6x9 up front where the front access doors were and two pair of 6.5 where the rear access doors were. I also have put a 12 sub up front where the mirror use to be.
