Installed -2 Imco Shorties on a 38 Fever, Picked up 5 mph AT LEAST
2000 Fountain Fever with new 525 efi's installed in July running standard length XR Sportmaster Drives. With 3 people and 3/4 tank of fuel it would run 80 - 81.
Finally got those Imco -2 polished shorties on it and ran it today. Ran in flat sticky water, 5/8 tank of fuel, 3 people and about the same temp (68) as the last time I ran 81 in some decent chop.
It came on plane faster than before, finally got it's ass out of the water and lifted the bow and stern up where they should be, and was still pulling when I shut her down because of too much water pressure - 35lbs + She did 86 and got there quick. I think with some decent chop and labbed props she might see 88 or better.
Before I was running 30 bravo's at about 5250 with the sportmasters, with the Imco shorties she was pulling 32 bravo's at 5300 and had a bit left in her I'm sure.
We need to install some relief valves before we do any more testing.
It was fregging AWESOME. I am pumped

Very interesting. I spoke to a guy today about putting Imco lowers on Xr's. He said if your not going over 90mph prior to install, it may actually slow you down...

How far were the prop shafts
below the bottom of the boat with
the standards ?
I'm contemplating adding 2" shorties on
mine, but have heard the talk about
slowing down if your not above 90
also.
Your results are what I am hoping for.
I recently tried a set of 32 maximus's,
they really hooked up good ( compared to
the 32 bravos I usually run) but, only allow
about 4800 rpm.
I think the hot set up is going to be
the2" shorties with the 32 max'es.
Thanks for posting the results.
They kind of re-inforced my thoughts on this project.
( Now, only if I could fine a set )

I've had similar results as Marginmn on my '99 35 4-5 GPS real MPH gain going to-2 inch lowers which leads me to believe that the older Fountain had very conservative X dim. vs newer models.
