Re: Cheap Fountain

I may go look at it this weekend if the owner e-mails me back. One of my friends may be interested but I don't know if he has the money. If any one here is interested let me know if you wan"t me to look at it for you or help make the deal.I live only about 45 minutes from the boat.

Dtile 11-17-2005 06:41 PM

Re: Cheap Fountain

I know the boat, I use to live in the area, check the paperwork, those engines were not redone, and even if he (looks like a broker) comes up with receipts check the compression. the book should be 20k if ya ask me.

nordic95 11-17-2005 07:08 PM

Re: Cheap Fountain

The owner just e-mailed back and said the motors were done last spring and he mis placed the receipts for the engines.Motors are also winterized so a test ride is not available.Don"t sound to good. What is this boat worth with a new interior and cleaned up real well???

Dtile 11-17-2005 07:12 PM

Re: Cheap Fountain

Forget about clean up and interior. ALways go with what it would cost to replace those Motors and Drives - if it don't add up to book minus what a clean hull and interior is worth, I wouldn't touch it cause then its that "hole" my wife talks about! Only my opinion

Like Capo said and perhaps 2005's most significant oso statement ever..."no more project boats"... :D

PurpleStuff 11-17-2005 07:36 PM

Re: Cheap Fountain

you could pick up some gm crate motors for 4.000 each. considering the drives are ok, then you are still in good shape and away from a hole.

I would stay away from that one, do the math, project boats can get expensive quick not to mention frustrating. :(

Hey good luck with your new hotrod!......post pics of your progress......are they 330s or 365s??.......did you hear them run??

snielsen 01-18-2006 06:47 PM

Re: Cheap Fountain

365's----bob stone (my mechanic) fired em. i havent heard em yet...he is still working on getting the dash panel and new throttles and gages set up, but i will post pics as i go for sure. i could use some opinions on some stuff though like:

rubrail---the boat is off white and has black now, but was thinking white until bob told me it wound'nt look good (because of the off white) is black with a chrome insert possable?

carpet: its grey im thinking red

remote trim (on wheel) it has the cords hanging from the stearing wheel, is it worth getting the wireless

theres still things i have yet to encounter....so stay tuned

My 89 boat is off whith and the rubrail was replaced with the newer style that Fountain used that is white with the white insert. Taco makes the rubrail and insert. The trick is getting the correct white. I think that they have 3 different whites.

I have a few dash panels here, new and used. Let me know if I can help.

Carpet: Call Matworks, wwwmatworks.com A good friend of mine owns the company and they do many of the OE carpets. They also have 3 or 4 different shades of red. Tell them Todd @ Outlaw sent you. Mike is the owner but Geoff is probablly the one to talk to.

I hated the cords for my trim so I went with the trim in throttle. The cordless is also nice. I have a new Lathem setup that has a leather wrapped wheel with switches that run through the hub if you are interested. It will work if you have hydraulic steering or if you plan to add it. I also have some components to add the hydraulic steering.

Re: Cheap Fountain

any of you guys try to order new interior skins from fountain...the problem I'm having is the interior guy I'm using said the the big expenses are the rear deck and the couch. now i called fountain and they told me that they can only sell me current model skins and that mine is totally different. i looked at new ones and those parts look the same as mine. I'm thinking that the guy who is installing the skins can make the adjustments, but if anyone has updated a 1990 to current and knows how close they are before i order it it would help BIG TIME. they want $1,072 for the full deck skin and that is much less expensive than having one made from scratch. the couch is shot completely (wood and foam all bad)
i was going to order the complete couch bottom $491 from fountain. does anyone know if that will fit?
also carpet----got a quote for snap less carpet $400
guy says the rubber backing is better than the snaps.
fountain says there carpet wont fit. true or false?
dash is on the way will post pic when complete

p.s. pachangalpina your right the trim switches on the throttles is the most sense able way to go--thats what I'm doing. bob stone told me the cords were the dinosaur way to do it!

someone has posted a site for custom carpet I think they are all pre cut for most boats. The guy wanted yellow carpet if I remember. 400 beans for carpet sounds high but never priced any.

I know about rotted wood. My cover leaked around the arch and ran down the sides.

I tried the rubber backed marine carpet without snaps and at higher speed it would start lifting. I did later install snaps. Velcro in key spots would also work.

my 93 and new Fountain has no snaps. I could use 2 Velcro patches where wind can catch it.

I have a friend with an 89 38 fever. When I had my new interior and carpet put in my 2000 fever I was going to save the skins for my buddy to put in his boat, but the interior guy at Fountain said they changed the design of their bolsters in the mid 90's and they wouldn't fit the older boats. When I got the new cockpit carpet I gave him my old one and the pattern wouldn't match up with his bolster floor pattern - so it wouldn't fit either.

These prices don't seem fair to me for a custom rug :(

Re: Cheap Fountain

When you call these places ask for carpet weight. There is a big difference in quality.

snielsen 01-21-2006 03:26 PM

Re: Cheap Fountain

quality is important to me, but i dont want the carpet so thick that you cant fold it and get it out easy. the stock carpet is perfect. if i can get it made like that i would be happy. i mean if it has thick rubber on the bottom how do you take it to the dry cleaner? beer, drinks and thing i shouldnt mention WILL get on this carpet :evilb:

Carpet cleans up easy. Only if you took a dump on it you may have a stink problem :evilb:
