Never cared for the beak on a offshore boat, looks good on a Carolina sportfishing boat though.Maybe reggie got his influence from Scarobough or Mann or one of those outerbanks guys.

foutains are great boats, alot of people have opinions and that is fine,.,.
its great we dont all have to drive the same car, boat etc,,

i have a v bottom that will spank most boats on here cat or v.
and its a little 35 fountain.. thier just arent many true 100 + boats,
even in the rough i can run away from most due to the fact its fast and has good power so even if i have to run it a bit glued in, i can power by,,
not many boats are as fast and as efficient and handle as good,

i dont personally care about the cockpit space, as i am not a barge hauling people around, 5 seats 5 people max... if i am doing that i will take our 43 ft bayliner,., thats a party barge,. :D :drink:

re driver layout yes i would have to agree if you are 6.3 or bigger and "heavy" it could be an issue,,
for me its great as i am 6.0 185 lbs.. and mine with the windshield is great , i sit and drive, used to stand in my 93 35 as couldnt see thru that windshield,,,but now i love sitting more throttle controll and its just flat out NICE>>> :D

my 02...

Until I actually looked at one up close. Not worth the $$ for what you get. I would need at least a 38 Fountain to get what I wanted and can find a 32 -35 in several other brands that are higher in quality.

Always wanted one, bought one, still have it.

Yeah it is fast but quality of construction was so poor, I spent years fixing all the structural defects in my "custom ordered brand new boat". Be afraid to look where you should not be looking.

I love boats ...period.
I think it is pretty lofty to say that most people want or will want a Fountain. I looked at a lot of boat adds when I was shopping and saw many boats including fountains but the beak just isn't my style. Maybe I could own one but that would only be possible as long as I have my Formula too! :D :D :D

Re: Wanted a Fountain.

I have never wanted a Fountain. Thier styling inside & out is just not for me.
That said, they DO ride incredibly well, and they are fast. My freind has a 35, and the quality of build and hardware looks to be amongst the best. I think they are a great boat!

If I were going to get a Fountain the only possible model would be their 48 Cruiser. But hell, I'd like a 44 Magnum. I like the size, and ammenities. I just looked at a 47 w/trip 525's, wasn't impressed, actually headroom was disappointing, getting into the head was a major step up, and again headroom was short. Fit and finish was ok, price of the boat was fair, and est. speeds for the power was 90, excellent. The Nortech 4300 is still larger, in cockpit, and much better down below, I have yet to find a better value, in size, performance, and just better looking boat, I will stick with my Nortech, just my take on it. Jeff

You have to give them credit and respect, as they are well-built, good handling, fast boats, but no, I've never wanted one, nor will I ever have one - I just don't care for the styling, and their small size (relatively speaking).

Re: Wanted a Fountain.

Works for me. At 5'9" 180lbs the cockpit is still snuggy. If I were any bigger, there could be some comfort probs. Cabin is shallow also. My 2nd and I would buy another one. I still love all the custom boats and paints. :D

I have owned 1 35, 3 42s, and 1 47, still own a 00 42 #6s, 1100hp Cobras,it is For Sale at Peir 57, Firmly believe that they are the best bang for the Buck! They are the fastest V out there, does the rigging have room for improvement? Yes! Want to spend a extra 100,000-200,000 go buy a OL or a Cig!all depends on what you want to spend

Your 42 used to sit right behind my slip when it was on Cumberland.
That was a very nice looking boat. Not exactly slow either:D They say reggie got 120 out if it before he shipped it. What kind of speed did you wind up seeing?

Just a thought. Theres a awful lot of talk here on OSO
about running open ocean, and the boats that supposodly
run all day long with nothing breaking. But I would guess
that running hard in open water for long periods of time
will break even the best of them. That said, how many
people here actually run open ocean on a regular basis?
Based on the locations in members profiles,I would think
very few. Not to say some of our inland lakes cant dish
up some pretty nasty water. The 32 Fountain I used to
own held up very well. I cant say that for every boat I've
owned. I Bought a new 35 this summer, time will tell how
well it holds up.

Me driving 116mph, Derebery driving 118mph, all depends on the water conditions , temps, air etc.
