Wanted a Fountain.

Who can post under this and actually say with all dignity that they have never wanted a Fountain. I am under the impression that most people want, have wanted, or will want a Fountain. I believe that at some time that everyone has. I am asking this because there seems to be many that defend Fountain and many that "hate" on Fountain.

what did you want before you got what it is that you have? or did someone just introduce you to powerboating in the boat you own?

IVe looked at the 38 CC and Lightning while looking for a new boat but didnt really like either. So you coudl say ive never really wanted a fountain. I dont hate them, but i think reggies comments about cats in KW was uncalled for. I dont think id ever want one for various reasons.

I have a few friends that have them, so I have ridden in a few. I do not care for the styling or the lack of room in the cockpit area. I use my boat for many outings besides poker runs etc. Fountain has never been considered when it comes to looking at a future boat. I have also always thought that they were overpriced as well. I do admit they are very fast though !!!

Ditto here.

I have considered a 35 and looked at one this past Summer. My 28 Pantera has about the same size cabin and I was looking for something bigger. There is just not enough to sway me to the Fountain side.

I love the 38 Express. The finish and rigging on the sport boats is not near what it needs to be. They are very fast. I spent all summer in a 120+ MPH 42' and it ran like a bat out of he l l, but I would rather have some nicer rigging and attention to detail.

Looked at Cigs, OL's, MTI's and Skaters. Too slow and cheaply built. Poor quality and workmanship. Chrome plated plastic hardware. Paper thin sides, can see light thur them. Dime a dozen. :D :D

Seriously, On my 2nd Fountain. 27, now a 32'. Love them both, but wish they where bigger inside. Loose a lot of actual space up front because of the beak. I see my next boat being a Cig, or a cruiser.

Ask a tall guy how far up his back he wants the seat support to go. <gg>

Sonics were designed by Jay Ross, a 6'6' fellow. Fountains were designed by, well..........

Re: Wanted a Fountain.

Ive looked at fountains and like a couple of the models. But I have an issue with the space you get on them. I am 6' tall and 220lbs. So I like a little room inside.

Re: Wanted a Fountain.

Yes I have wanted a Fountain. I will proudly admit.

We use to have one of the "BEST" Fountain dealers in the country here in Charlotte. His service alone was enough to make you want to own a Fountain. I have had more friends with Fountains over the years then any other brand.

A 42 Fountain was the first real, true performance boat I ever rode in and drove, and is still to this day one of my favorite boats. Then I have had the opportunity to drive 29's, 35's and a 38. In my opinion they are a great boat. But when it comes to actually owning one I have a hard time with the left hand throttles, and the seats just are too low and don't fit my body. Other then that no complaints at all.

As for Reggie I have had the opportunity to shake his hand twice, once at the plant in Washington, and once at a poker run. He makes you fell like he knows you. I think that is a good trait in someone.

He is kind of like Dale Earnhart, you either love him or hate him it seems, but one thing is for sure, "You Better Respect Him". He is definately a legend in is own time.

Have honestly never considered one or desired one.

Re: Wanted a Fountain.

You can't deny they're fast. Especialy their one of a kind race boats. They make some of the best lake and river boats around. Bring them offshore and they fall apart. They all look good on the showroom floor and at the boat show but the true test is how long they last in real offshore conditions. Offshore NOT being the ICW listening to you're Vanilla Ice tapes. And no I've never wanted one. But they are fast.

I have seriously considered both a 38 and 42 Fountain. How ever every time I look at them I get really turned off by the lack of room, and the helm. I just am not going to pay that kind of money for something I don't really care for. Joe Murray

We have lots of friends with fountains and they all seem to love them, but we never entertained the thought of one even after Wyatt took us for a spin on a new (I think) 47'

Purple Stuff, I notice you are new around here and are posting up a storm welcome aboard new blood is great. Can you share a little about yourself since I notice your profile is blank. I'm from Waterford MI and boat on Lake Erie, Lake MI and Lake St Clair in a slow but comfortable Black Thunder, so where do you like to float

Great thread...
Just what I want to see...how many know nothings hate Reggie and his boats.
My only opinon is he should mark them up 100% so they cost as much as OL's and Cigs.

Love our 35, but as many here, we also wish for more cabin space. This is #2 and the next will be a cat. Wtih the cat cabin space is not a concern, well never be in it. :D
