I have a 2003 35 Lightning with 500HP's and Bravo 1's, all stock, runs 86-87 on GPS. Considering trading up to 2006 42 Ex with 525's and XR's. I could order the new boat the way I want it, and the deal could be done for about 100K. I mostly boat on Pickwick Lake (TN), with a few poker runs and trips to the gulf coast in the summer.
Wondering about how the new package will perform compared with the old. Should I pull the trigger?

personally if i could and had the option i would go with maybe a bit more power in the 42. you are going to be running similar speeds but may feel slower with the bigger boat. either way if it puts a smile on your face then who cares, do what you want. good luck, tough position to be in!

The 42 is more fun if you are in an ocean etc...
In my eyes if you need the space for beers, chicks, dogs or all the above then a 42. But if you boat on a lake 90% of time and it doesnt get that rough the 35 is more fun!! As you know its like a little sports boat. Or maybe go with a 38 L. Just wait a little bit.... might be some surprises...:-)
