Re: project 27
So, were the bolts that hold all the interior side panels, grab handles and seats 3" longer than needed? 1st thing I did was get in the side compartments with my SawZall and cut those gubbers down. Everything I shoved in the side compartments were getting snagged on those bolts.
I see your helm has a 'tub' under the dash. When did Fountain go to the molded in design? Keep the pictures coming! |
Re: project 27
didnt know they made a 27 w\ twins

Re: project 27
27 by yesterdays standards, 29 by todays
|
Re: project 27
the studs were way to long......but most of the interior peeled off (rotten wood). as you can see the rear deck still has the screws in it. the dash is the next to go..i have all the gauges, throttles, gps and panel. red panel, chrome Bessel's, red gauge rim, and chrome billet throttles w/red knobs.
those throttles are so cool! :evilb: |
Re: project 27
I have the 1st section (head rest section) of my hatch off now. It was very disappointing to see they drilled the hatch all the way thru larger than the washer size, then place a single strip of FG over the hole on top, and drill it the screw size for the sections to fasten to. A couple of mine where almost pulled thru the FG strip. Very poor thinking in my opinion. Guess that's something else I have to fix properly.

Re: project 27
I am replacing the wood on most of the upholstery on my 27. a lot of the hardware just pulled through when i took it off. I'm just going to use some short stainless lag bolts to reattach it.

Re: project 27
Do you have interior shop? If not my 1993 29' complete interior is close to you RT59 and 132 "Grand Ave" In Lake Villa IL. As project gets closer and I figure out how. I'll post pics.

Do any of you know how to take apart the seats in order to remove the color striped sections. I am in the process right now of tearing out the interior in order to remove the teal color and replace it with some blue.

YOUR KIDDING ME! im using the canvas shop on RT59 (CANVAS WORKS). Bob Stone at Motercade Unlimited on RT120 and Hainsville is doing all the work on the boat itself. |

Snielson,
If you haven't installed the dash panel yet, order ya two drive temp gauges and move the fuel gauge next to or close to the silent choice switch on the starboard gunnel by the switch panel that has the cockpit lights, cabin power, engine hatch switch...etc, etc. The open hole above the steering helm can be your hour meter or depth gauge. I ordered the combination hour meter/8000 rpm tachs when I redid my dash. It made a clean install and allowed me to add the extra two drive temp gauges. I'll try and find a picture and post it. If you already have it planned out, disregard. Just that I would give you another possible dash setup option. Any questions about the 27/29 let me know. I've got a 91 29 fever twin big block that I have added numerous upgrades to over the past 10 boating seasons. Enjoy, Nixter. |
Re: project 27
Snielsen. I need your help! I want to have the kind of chain block above your boat to lift my formula. Could you tell me what it is made of ? What is the size of the H beam? height ? width ? same thing for the kinf of post that hold the H beam. Tubing ? thickness ? How is the H beam attached to the 2 post? Thanks for your help! and pictures if possible!

Re: project 27
Snielsen,
Looks like your having lots of fun.:D The dash turned out great. Look forward to seeing more pictures. Dan |
Re: project 27
nixter thats a hot boat, but i bet it burns your a$$ on a hot day...
|
Re: project 27
Snielsen, Yeah the line I usually get is "That boat looks incredible but I bet it gets hot as hell!!!!" I just use white fountain towels on the red interior and when I need to walk on the deck.
What did you decide on the gauge setup for the dash? Have you got the engines and drives out of it? Let me know on what your progress is with the project. I'm doing some planning on trying to lighten the stern up in mine.....new batteries from Teague (26lbs) and repositioning my drive trim pumps so its easier to work on the engines. I'm 6'5" 250lbs so I need all the room I can get. Eventually I build some all aluminum engines and lighten the engine hatch and get rid of 600-700lbs. Keep us updated, Nixter. |
Re: project 27
im really consintrating on getting the boat to a stock power setup...this will be a big speed upgrade from my previous boat and i want to get used to the power before i start going for speed upgrades. next year im going to tweak it. im just going to put a clock on the bottom left and the depth finder in the center. im more concened with how im going to put the LCD remote display next to the silent choice switch. the dash looks awsome w/ the chorme bases. the billet design is worth the extra money for sure. The red knobs are cool to..the interior is going to be all white vinel with white strips red carpet and red powder coated grab handles. the steering wheel from livorsi is red w/black leather grips on the sides. im even getting the red cup holders! will have more pics soon

Re: project 27
Pull My Trigger,
Before I put on the 2" Imco shorties, The old Bat Boat would run 80.5 MPH GPS. After installing the Imco's I know my midrange has picked up with the 5 Blade Hydros, but I need to dial in my props to get a better reading. They're P-5's with diffuser rings. I got up to 79 MPH with 3/4 fuel and 3 people on board. I had it trimed out and WOT and RPM's were 4800-4900. I'm going to have the diffuser rings taken off and have the props labbed/blueprinted and I should see 82-84 MPH. THe boat handles great with the shorties and the P-5's and it throws a nice rooster tail! :drink: Nixter |

Re: project 27
i shrank the pixels on the pics so there not perfect, but check out the powder coating on the grab handle and the seat support.....it looks awesome in person...
and the dash is incredible with all the lights on....gettin close :D |
Re: project 27
Looks good. Install some red cupholders in the bolster bases while you got it apart.
I went the other way around with my rails, grab handles, and seat bases. They where all powdercoated white. I stripped them bare, sanded and polished to a mirror finish. My coating had a few chips on them, and the white always looked dirty, plus I like the polished look. More shine.. :D |
Re: project 27
