BA. Now that I think about it, I had a 1991 32 non-step that had a tough time planing with 4 blade hydromotives. I borrowed a set of 3-blades and it came up extremely fast. The top speed was the same, but I think the acceleration with 3 blades was better. You can still try the 28 4 blades though.

Outcastyj,
I have a 91' 29 fever with twin 454/365 mags. I run 24" 4 blade hydros. The boat handles and performs the best with these. I have since upgraded my engines, added stand-off boxes and Imco shorties. I still have the labbed set of Hydromotive Q IV intimidators if you are interested! Nixter

I found out this weekend that I am currently running 25 pitch 3 blade bravo ones that are probably as old as the boat. I am not very knowledgeable when it comes to props so please bear with me but why would I want to go down in pitch when trying to get a little more top speed and mid range?

As a rule of thumb you go down two inches for every blade you add. Depending on power and drive depth you'll have a harder time spinning up the 4 blades because they get more bite at low speeds. They will also have a higher tendency to cavitate when the boat starts coming up on plane and disturbs the water-flow past the notch and transom.

The three bladed mirage 25" pitch was the standard prop that came with the boat. There has been an improvement on the 3 blade Mirage with the introduction of the Mirage plus. In the mid 90's Fountain started offering Hydromotive QIV 4 bladed intimidator props with almost all Fountains. The perfect 4 blade replacement for your twin engine 29 with 365's is the 24" pitch QVI Hydromotive. As Lofty said, for every additional blade you need to go down an inch or two in pitch. Hydromotive props are usually accurate in true pitch were as Mercury props are a little off. With the 4 blade Hydro's you will have better midrange speed and better handling overall. Remember you have an extra blade in the water. You will sacrifice 2 mph on top end, but you can gain that back by having them labbed/blueprinted and still maintain excellent handling, midrange speed and top end. I have a written test report for your 29 Fever with 365/454 Mags. I can fax to you if you don't have one with your boat, if you would like a copy of it. I also still have my labbed 24 Hydros if you are interested in trying. We can work something out. Nixter
