Question: Blue Plug ?
#1
I got my boat out of the shrink wrap a couple weeks ago, installed the batteries and cleaned her up getting her ready for the season and while I was down in the engine compartment I found a blue plug that was laying there on the bottom.....it screwed in up by the exhaust on the starboard engine. Now I assume that it was a drain plug to get the excess water out for winterizing. I had a local company winterize it and shrink wrap it. Anyway I found the hole and screwed the plug back in. My dilemma is that I have twins and the other engine doesn't seem to have this plug. There wasn't another one laying anywhere and from what I could see there wasn't another hole or a plug anywhere in the other engine. Now the engine with the plug was a newly installed engine last season and the other engine is the orginal from 94.......is it possible that only the new engine has this plug ? Thanks for the help in advance. I know I'm an idiot when it comes to this stuff, that's why I ask.

My '94 boat didn't have the blue drains. My '99 does.
I always refer to BAMS mercruiserparts.com for part diagrams and numbers whenever I have a question about motors and drives. Might look up your specific motors to be sure.
Many times the threads of the plug will break off inside the elbow. I keep several on hand just for that reason.
