Re: 2004 42 Lightning For Sale $199999.00
TX Fountain, Keep in mind my Fountain is a 38TE...center console fishing boat. Top speed is 70-73 and my insurer said this boat is not in the performance market. I have an agreed value policy for $230k for $2500 a year. This only went up $500 this year. However my windstorm policy deductable went form $5k to $23k! That is insane! My agent said I am very lucky to even have a windstorm policy.
Lately I've had the urge to possibly get back into a performance boat this year or with in the next couple of years. So I've called around and had quotes of agreed value policies from $200-299K for 38-42 performance boat with speeds of 85-95mph. Most will not insure in Florida, none would give me windstorm and the one's that would insure say they have found only 1 market that will write this type of boat in Florida. My premiums quoted were $4500-8k!
With the cost of insurance, gas and boats these days I really am having SERIOUS second thoughts of my boating hobby. I can take my Porsche to track days, rally's and poker runs with the Porsche club and have just as much fun for a lot less $$$. I could buy a Ferrari 360 Modena as my play toy for less than my boat and use less gas, less insurance and still do track days, car shows, and poker runs with the Ferrari Club.

TxFountain, funny you say that because my wife and I were in Atlanta this week on business and she spent some time around Lake Lanier and seem to really like it. I love Texas but my sales territory does not include Texas so I can't move there. Anyway, we just moved into a nice house on the water in Tampa 2 years ago so we are not moving yet.
Sorry to high jack your thread....good luck selling you boat...it is super nice looking!

TX have you entertained the idea of taking smaller trades? most of the people that want to move to a 42 have a smaller boat that they need to move . just a thought. your 42 is very nice and the price is getting where you should be able to move fast. I have a guy looking for one close to yours but not quite in that price range. good luck
