35 with Whippled 500 EFI'S

What are the best props for a 99 single step with 1.36 standard Bravo's?

My .02 I'm running a '99 Single Step 35 w/-2 shorties I've had good results running Labbed Bravo 1's 30P

Had a 35 Lighnting, with 1.36 gears and whippled 540's. Ran 29 Hydromotives with a 5800 rpm rev limiter. Best overall probably a Labbed B1. Hydromotive was faster and was box stock. Standard length drives.

Is this with 500 EFI's & Whipples? What speeds are you getting?

Ran-Dom 32 10-03-2006 08:31 AM

Re: 35 with Whippled 500 EFI'S

500HP's (600HP) MID 80's

Re: 35 with Whippled 500 EFI'S

I have been told to expect speeds in the upper 90's with Bravo 32 p 4 blades, most likely will try Hydro 30 p Q-IV's first....anyone care to guess a top speed?

How much HP?

Re: 35 with Whippled 500 EFI'S

Currently running 29 hydros with my 540s. This might change when I try shorties. I have not tried Bravos. I think my drives are a little too deep for a good top end with Bravos.

How much power and what speed with the 29's?

I dont know Indy...I worry about a guy your age (old) with that kind of power.. You might want to ship the boat to Oklahoma so that I can dial it in for you over the next couple of summers just to make sure it is safe..I'd say 95. More if you add the shorties!

How fast was your boat with the 29's?

Rebel_Heart 06-29-2007 10:36 PM

I'm trying out some P5Xs this weekend. I liked the stock Bravo 32s, but wanted a comparison.

Let us know how they work! I finally got my rig on the water but so far have not seen any good numbers yet, it runs 88-90 @ 5000 rpm. The rev limiter is set at 5800 so the 32's are too much prop with a 1.36 ratio. Trying to get a set of Bravo 28's and 30's to test. Probably not the best time to expect stellar numbers with humidity and temps near 100. :(

We ran 104 mph. Could probably played with the props, but was happy they way it was. Those where box stock 29's not labbed. It was a little difficult to get on plane, and it didnt cruise in the mid range as efficiently as the 5 blades, but it ran very hard on the top end. Its all a trade off for what you use your boat the most for. Had it set up for running on the rivers in our area. In those informal match-ups its more about acceleration than top speed. If you can put 2-3 boats on someone its over quick.

INDY27 06-30-2007 09:11 AM

Wow! those are great numbers, how much HP?

Rebel_Heart 06-30-2007 10:43 AM

Beakboater - you must have some serious hp to hit 104! I dynoed at 710, so I know that is beyond my expectations. Now, if it would just stop raining I could get some runs in. I had quite a bit of slip with the 32s, but I don't know if the 5 blades will compensate enough to make up for the extra blade? I also want to check the different rpm speeds for a comparison, ie 4000, 4500, 5000, top end.

jryan26 06-30-2007 02:32 PM

How fast are you running with 710?

Strip Poker 388 06-30-2007 02:49 PM

I would think a 35 with that package would want more that 30 b1's.

The 500efi Whipple 3.3 usally makes around 720-740.I am running 500efi Whippled on my 38 ,1.30 gear stock B1 30 6000rpm at 860hp.At 766hp I turned the 28b1's 6000.

His numbers...

2001 Classic w/ -2 shorties
540s w/ 700 dyno hp na
Ran 29 Quad 4s to 5800 - 90 mph
Today ran 32 Bravos stock to 5600- 95 mph

jryan26 06-30-2007 06:17 PM

Thats awesome...How much did he pickup with the -2 lowers?

INDY27 06-30-2007 06:31 PM

His speed numbers with the Hydro 29's were with the stock lowers and he has a 1.5 ratio. I got a set of Hydro q4 27's to test tommorow.......what do you think, more rpms's and about the same speed or will it bust 90?

Rebel_Heart 06-30-2007 08:48 PM

Last weekend turning stock 32 Bravos @5600, I ran 95 on gps. This is with -2" Imcos. Would like to turn 5800 for peak hp. I'll have to see how the P5Xs stack up.

jryan26 06-30-2007 09:38 PM

You should pick up a chit load of mph at cruise. Might lose 1-2 on the top end. Ive been told maximus are the best for single steps.

Rebel_Heart 07-01-2007 09:37 AM

How is the Maximus different than the P5X? I think they are bigger props (diameter)?

INDY27 07-01-2007 10:13 AM

They do have a larger diameter, I tried one on my 27 a while back and lost about 4mph. That is one BIG heavy prop! Plan on hitting the water at noon today to test the Hydro 27's.

jryan26 07-01-2007 12:12 PM

MV35 is kind of the king of single step 35s. He ran 110 with the maximus's.

Put on your other set of pullies!

INDY27 07-01-2007 06:48 PM

The 27's picked up a little speed, I made runs of 90.3 @ 57-5800 rpms with 1/2 tank of gas. Maybe a set of 29's or Bravo 30's will do the trick.

Agreed. Also a very close friend of mine, been there and done those numbers in that 35. Right now he is helping a friend rig a big HP nat asperated 35 Ex. They expect to hit the water next weekend with it if all goes well, and are looking to top 100. Stay tuned for that one.

I'm running 1.5 gears. Put the P5Xs on, plan on running today. Indy - that's a good speed. Are you in your rpm range? That is what I need to turn my engines.

Rebel,
The rev limiter is set @ 5800 rpms, I probably could have hung in there for 91 but didnt want to bang on the limiters. I figure my setup should run 95-97 with the right props since a stock 35 w/ 500 EFI's will run 83-85. Any suggestions?
